Do you think he’s 100% back to his best?

And how likely is that knee to flare up in the prem?

I watch alot of serie a, past few years in my opinion the most competitive league in the world as in most different winners the past few years

His lack of numbers are down to the position he was playing, he's very fast, still good close ball control but lack of goals and assists are down to him playing central

Would lov Chiesa here, be n saying it since last summer, obvious fit

I don't mind the idea of Chiesa at the quoted price. There's proven quality there that's probably worth the risk, whatever that risk may be.

Olmo though would be a spectacular signing. Those rumours seem to have gone quiet, was there ever a chance of that one happening? Seems more likely a City signing.

Options that cost more are not necessarily better: over the years, especially in the Premier League, I have seen mediocre players paid €50-60 million. Just look at Man United's signings: they were all first choices! Purebred horses (on paper) have become donkeys.

You have a nice club, maybe they haven't won much but they are healthy, they have a fantastic stadium and a nice fan base. Over the years you have had good seasons against teams that have spent more than you.
Yeah but all the teams that had the best seasons spent more than us. Leicester being the freaky exception.

Being a nice club is a polite way to say small club but well organised?

We are a club that pretends to shake up the natural order of English football. The fans certainly pay enough to have a team that shakes up the heirarchy. Unfortunately the club has never paid them back for it.

Does Chiesa get us closer to doing that?
If we sign him I hope so.

When I watch him, he looks a completely different player to the one I remember. Definitely feels he lost that explosiveness, but can still beat a man and put a great cross in when the opportunity rises.

Not to say it's a bad thing. It's like say, R9 pre and post knee surgeries. Completely different players but the ability is still there.

25m for an experienced player who may not only have something to prove but someone we know can perform when fit at the highest level whilst the likes of Moore continue to develop seems like a good deal if we can get it done.

I do have a feeling it's media shit though to get Roma to pay up.

Perhaps.

But we’re not getting Kvara or Williams. As a left sided option, Chiesa is legitimately good. He’s a combative little bugger as well, which I think will suit the league.

I’d be excited to see him play.

He’d get more minutes at RW wouldn’t he?

He does have the ability to play either side.

Why do you think Spurs fans see Williams and Kvaratshkelia as unrealistic but gooners don’t?

Bring it on!

:walker-scream:

I would be surprised if we don't bring in at least one player with real experience playing at a high level this summer. Especially having moved on Perisic and Hojbjerg.

Ange's second season at Celtic he signed Aaron Mooy, and his composure and creativity had a big impact at that level. Olmo would be the ideal example of that here imo (obviously I'm not comparing Mooy to Olmo, but rather the impact they'd have in their respective leagues).

Olmo would be a knock it out of the park signing though and one that unfortunately sounds unlikely, but hopefully the level we're aiming for isn't too far off that.

True. I’d assumed he would play left with Son as 9. I feel like Ange is all in on Johnson (for better or worse).

I don’t think Williams would even entertain us as we’re not winning anything anytime soon. And Daniel is never coughing up that sort of silly money. Scum have seen their club drop 100 million on a player. Raises expectations.

He’s not great a Juve but good with Italy. It weird

Depends how you define great and good.

8,127 minutes played at Juve, which equates to about 90 games played.

32 goals scored. 23 assists. So a goal or assist every 1.6 games. One of those goals being a winner in the cup final for them, one of two major trophies he's won there in four seasons...

Whilst also having to deal with some horrible injuries. That's pretty good at the very least.

What are the gooners winning anytime soon?

The money thing is the point though isn’t it? In this case. We have the same or better revenue than them

I think Neto, Toney and Chiesa would be good signings, but none of these players would take us to the next level:

-Neto injury issues and only 3 goals in past 2 PL seasons.
-Chiesa hasn’t been at same level since his ACL injury, 9G 2A in Serie A last season is good but not great.
-Toney 4 goals in half a season since his return, mediocre for a CF.

All three have great strengths; Neto & Chiesa can beat defenders with technical ability while Toney has good hold up play. But this won’t significantly bridge the gap with City/ Woolwich.
In regards to Chiesa, you need to take a few things into account:
1) he was being played out of position, being played as a support striker.
2) he outperformed his xG.
3) he should have had 6 assists based on his xA, meaning the finishing from his teammates was poor.
4) his return was pretty good considering how Allegri's tactics are poor in attack.

I finally get how the transfer window works..
