How Dry should our Powder be?

Yeah, it was obvious when Postecoglou said we were still after our initial targets. IMO i reckon its Eze, Neto and Gallagher. They're the names that have been knocking around for months. Only other possible i could think of is Raphinha instead of Neto as Barca wont want to sell until they have signed Williams which might explain the delays. Maybe Ramsey as a contingency if Gallagher doesnt happen. I hope i'm wrong on a couple of those. I reckon we only move for a CF if and when we sell Richarlison.

Part of me agrees, and the other part thinks that's way too obvious, given recent history of everybody looking the wrong way while Lange goes about his business.

Striker I’m not worried about. Son + Richy was 29 goals when either started in the middle. Unless an outrageous offer comes in for Richarlison, so we can turn around and buy Gyrokes, I’m fine with them.

DM - I think the succession plan from Bissouma to Gray has already been made.

All of our attention should be on LW and also a LCB/LB hybrid
Can gray play the holding midfeild role? Admittedly I've only seen him 2 or 3 times for leeds and done no research... But when I have he's played the sort of porro role ... attacking RHS...

Would you rather Neto play 25 games and be injured for 25 games or have Solomon available on the bench for 50 games?
I don’t understand why that’s the ultimatum. We’ve got money and a scouting team that should be able to identify other targets. It’s mental to buy a player with massive injury concerns for such a key position, especially considering we’ve already seen the impact our style of play has on players legs.

Also not going to pretend I’ve watched many of Netos games but his last season goal tally is hardly amazing. Not too dissimilar to Johnson who many on here think is a waste of money. Is it just that Neto is fast and does some fancy dribbles?

I'de LOVE neto at Tottenham, I'm not anti Werner in any form he's decent... But neto as long as he's fit, can play either side and from what I've seen is a game changer.. fitness COULD be an ongoing issue though...

How is Solanke desperate? He already proved he can score goals in the Premier League. On the contrary, all Gyokeres has done is score lots of goals in Portgual, which excluding a few clubs, is Championship quality. He hardly set the world alight for Coventry in the Championship a couple of years ago.

Gyokeres has Sexy, mystique foreigner tax that this fanbase love.

I like we don’t really know our targets for certain beyond Eze this summer - makes all these random links quite exciting.

Eze plus any 2 of Chiesa, Neto, Raphinha, David, Toney, Gyokeres is a hell of a window.

I’m nonplussed on Ramsey and Gallagher

What was the last game you saw David play and in what ways would him playing for us not add value?

I've only seen some clips and don't really have a strong opinion either way but I imagine, based on your comment, you know his game inside out.

Honest John Honest John even by now you've had time to watch some highlight reels, do a wiki search even craft a response from an AI?

How exactly do you specifically think David would not add value to our team? What are his best and worst footballing attributes? When have you watched him and been unimpressed and what about that game in particular unimpressed you?

We did a great job of ruining their careers 🤣🤣 The spurs curse.

In all seriousness they both looked like great buys at the time. Paulinho had just had a fantastic Copa America for Brazil and was one of the players of the tournament. I was genuinely excited when we got him. Thought he’d add some real backbone and toughness to the side. Instead he ran around like a little 5 year old sook looking for his mummy. Lazy as fuck too, which wasn’t the case when playing in and for Brazil. Go figure
Both Soldado and Paulinho were a case of TERRIBLE scouting. Soldado was never going to work in a million years in the prem.

He was neither big nor quick, nor aggressive/Strong. You need 2 out of the 3 if you’re going to be a good prem striker. He had none.

Negredo came over at the same time and he was great before he got homesick.

Paulinho was Aturo Vidal from wish. He was good at crashing the box but utterly average at everything else.

Some interesting comments on Eze in this thread as I know some on here have touched on where he’d fit on our team as he’s not a winger or a central midfielder.

I rate Eze highly as an individual but it seems people don’t want to learn the lessons from the Euros.

Southgate’s refusal to drop Foden for Anthony Gordon cost England the tournament.

I’m not trying to hear “Eze can do a job out on the LW because he’s so talented”, NO. Give me a player who’s primary job it is to play there.

Soldado would have worked perfectly fine for a team that would get crosses into the box.

We sold Gareth Bale and AVB decided to coach us to just aimlessly pass round the middle of the field and create sweet fuck all for one of the deadliest finishers in Europe.

Didn't help that his partner had a miscarriage and he was pretty much done mentally the moment he arrived.

Funnily enough, the Soldado from Valencia would have been the perfect striker for Ange. Work tirelessly hard pressing, not bad link up play and gets on the end of crosses provided by the widemen

Yup, fans aren't really thinking things through, it's like the fanbase want is to go for him because it signals us having ambition and it will make us feel like we can compete, the dopemine hit of the signing is clouding people's judgement because there's no specified role for him.

To be honest, if we signed Eze I assumed it's probably because Ange thinks he's a better fit for his team and the set up than Maddison is.

Hence why we're also in the market for a winger (Neto, Chiesa links etc)

I just think they are very different number 10's and both fantastic players.

Maddison at his best, like we saw at times last season, can run the game picking the ball up deep and moving it, and is very effective in the final third also.

Eze we know is a ball carrier and can beat a man - but from a central position, if he played wide left he would be cutting in constantly

No issue with having both - but looking at the numbers we already have in the squad, i don't see how we would then make room for another wide player and a central striker. The numbers don't add up, we'd need to shift another 3 or 4.

Mourinho, Conte bringing Bale back. Pining over pretzel boy.

This fanbase is obsessed with having big names over what’s actually right.

You want to feel like a big club? Just do what’s right to build a cohesive squad that suits what the manager wants and the rest will come easily,
