Your oversimplification is sadly incorrect and thoroughly misleading - suggest you read my thread on the squad Player - Squad 2024 - 2025

Facts of the matter. and that including Sarrr and Udogie now being over 21 and needing to be registered, signing of Gray and Bergvall, needing to abide by uefa rules after a season outside europe etc, we needed to offload ALL of the players you list to offload wages not spent on current squad players and stay in squad rules.... just to sign one or two players.
Not my intent to be thoroughly misleading. We are seeing a complete rebuild but havent yet signed anyone this summer outside of hugely talented 18 year old prospects.

Sure, but your post suggested that since loads of players had/were leaving , that there should be incomings.

My post was to ensure it wasn't lost we need all those out (and a couple more) just to be able to sign a player or two.

A lot more out than in this window is necessary just to 'right size' the squad.

But we are likely to be able to promote a couple of youngsters from the academy who have done well this preseason who as u18's from the club will not take up squad spaces to bulk up the squad beyond that.

fyi, John Bostock (only 32) just signed for a National League Club - was once named by likes of Rio Ferdinand as a future England Captain and midfield maestro, and of course the siubject of a court case with Spurs being accused of vastly underpaying by Crystal Palace. .

Hopefully Spurs scouts and recruiters have better techniques than previously

Oh and if you think Kulu is the one we should be selling you don't have any grounds to be talking about people's football IQ, sorry. Might not be the best RW in this system (although he's better than Brennan), but he can fill in at 3 positions and is the only attacker in our team who can hold onto the ball, maintain possession, play with his back to goal, battle, press, fight for the ball, play a decent pass
as frustrating as kulu can be, this is all true.

im still pinning hope that with 2 competent players up there with him we will see more of the kulu we saw in his first few months where he was unplayable.

Also had 16G+xA last year which is second in our squad only to Son. Brennan got 12, Maddison 9.

Selling Kulusevski unless we get 50m is madness. When you have players who cover 3, maybe even 4 positions like that, it saves you squad spaces and wages for better players elsewhere.

No point making any of the valid points about Kulusevski to those that don't rate him. He could finish the season with 15 goals and 10 assists playing the false 9 role and they would still hate him.

Here in Spain when I watch Spurs at the bar everyone rates Kulusevski really highly

That's the point though isn't it. It's not like he covers 3/4 positions like say Bernardo Silva covers 3/4 positions - ie really well. He's got some ability, but lacks the physical qualities - speed, Balance and dexterity - to make that ability really count a lot of the time. He works hardish, but again it's all a bit one paced so is also compromised.

As for this 9/F9 thing, let's see how it works in real games against half decent sides. He was OK against a couple of shit teams, but like the other positions he's tried, I'm pretty sure against half decent teams he won't look so OK much of the time. Although to be fair, our looking good No.9 bar isn't exactly high lately.

Buying and then hanging onto players like this because he occasionally produces "a moment" is what's fucked us badly the last few years. Rule number 1, don't buy meh. Rule number 2, once you know they are a bit meh, fuck them off asap before that meh gets more and more exposure.

TLDR you think he's slow.

I get that, he's not rapid but he's faster than he looks and there are fucking zero issues with his balance and dexterity. He made his abilities count plenty of times last season. Especially considering how many different roles he was asked to cover and spent most of the season as the player covering the most distance in the prem and also providing the most big chances.

Agree let's see how the 9/F9 thing goes, it is too early to tell but the signs are encouraging.

Chart goes a long way to explaining why Neto might be a good target… despite his injuries, he was still top 5 for carrying the ball into the danger zone. Eze not far behind him either.

Considering his injuries Maddison still top 7 for non cross expected threat. No really fucking sure what expected threat is though or how you measure it.

Thing that I was wondering is why would you not count crosses for that stat? I guess to show playmakers from central areas creating danger.

Both Eze and Neto come out even better. Both in top 10 for "carries into the danger zone", and also top 10 in "expected threat".

Also goes a long way to explaining why we are prioritising upgrades to all our attacking positions, none of whom feature in the above average parts of that graph.

None of them carrying is the reason IMO. Most of our front 3 are targeted with low crosses into the danger zone and crosses are filtered out of the data set so...

But yes, it definitely shows we need sone fucking offensive playmaking up front.
