look at the reaction of a LOT of posters after that game against Palace. Lots were sure he was going to turn into some sort of monster player despite the eye test telling us he was absolute donkey piss and a championship player at absolute best (I'm not even sure he was that).
All because he made one good pass!!! The first half that night he was abysmal. Thank fuck we are getting the dross to fuck out this club. It must be frustrating for a manager having to play the game with these types when he knows they are not good enough and won’t ever play or play regularly. Skipp,Reguilon and Royal next.

Who has moved ahead of him? You've seen a couple of kids in pre season friendlies and suddenly everyone thinks they are ready for the premier league!

When Son went off at the weekend, he was given the captains armband. Doesn't seem like someone rotting in the background.

With Hojbjerg gone We have Bissouma, Skipp and Sarr currently to rotate in defensive midfield; with Bentancur, Gray, Bergvall as the more box to box option.

If anything, we need Skipp's experience to help Sarr, Gray and Bergvall.

It would do good to remember, Bergvall played 12 games last season, and both he and Devine has never played at the 'top level'.
I agree with most of what you say regarding Skipp, however I really don't see Sarr as a DM.

Sarr just isn't that player, he lacks discipline but is full of energy and is aggressive hence why he played as a false 9 in one particular game that I can't remember who against.

Sarr is an aggressive, tidy box to box midfielder, not a DM destroyer like Skipp in my opinion.

Skipp destroys my soul! Sarr is a box to boxer who gets about the pitch. Loads of energy and comfortable on the ball. Not technically great

The top three clubs are also the most successful English clubs over the last decade, which suggests three things:
Being a "selling club" is hardly an issue as long as you have good recruitment, all of those clubs sold important first team players to European superclubs and just kept improving.
Making good income from selling players is important part of the economic engine that keeps top clubs running.
And success makes players more valuable. Palmer didn't really have a hand in City's success, but he had the pedigree, so he went for 45m while barely playing any adult football.

It would be a failure to get nothing for Reguilon who is a serviceable full-back on a pretty friendly salary even by La Liga standards.
Seville have been a bit of a basket case with board room power struggles but they took out a €100m loan to stabilize their finances earlier this year. Hopefully, this move will involve a fee although I’m not betting on it.

DM is also very different in modern football to what it was even just 10 years ago. A top team needs a Carrick/Busquests profile these days, someone who is defensively/positionally mustard but is also a deep lying playmaker able to control the games from deep midfield with an elite passing range and good ball retention under pressure.

Hence why we bought Archie Gray who is a young version of this and currently only Bissouma or Bentancur can sort of fit this profile.

Just noticed (can be seen in this video) that Levy is out on tour with the lads.

No idea if it has any impact at all on when we can expect to see deals for players done, but just thought I'd point it out as I hadn't seen it elsewhere:

The whole club leadership always goes on the tours. Lange is there, Cullen is there. They’re trying to glad-hand and work potential commercial deals. Usually very little transfer stuff happens while they’re doing what Levy considers the most important thing - generating more income.
