Isn’t he still on holiday?

A window of Toney and a winger who’s only fit to play half a season would hardly move the needle position wise.
His agent isn’t though.

Eze would just need to agree terms with us. The rest is between clubs.

He’s too expensive. I’m not actually too concerned about Eze. I’m not sure he’s right for us. Lovely player to watch, but I don’t think he’s the missing piece.

Concerned about the overall quality in our front line. I don’t care what anyone says, an injury to Son and then out front like looks very average.

It gets mildly frustrating seeing this idea from Spurs fan that we "shouldn't panic" as there's over a month left in the window.

This is an idea that we were supposed to be growing out of as a club. We know the importance of pre season when it comes to integrating new signings and working on the squad for the coming season, and we have completely written that off. Trying to build a squad on the fly after the seasons started does not end well for the most part.

Don't forget what the manager said in June. Forget him toeing the line now and saying that he's calm.. In June, he was pretty clear that he wanted a few signings in before pre season, because he knows the importance of that time.

And for this idea that "their not the ones delaying". This club, for the most part, has moved like death when it comes to doing business for as long as we can remember. Giving this club the benefit of the doubt is nothing more than blind faith.
Great post. Sums it up nicely.

You lot are wasting your time in this thread.

There will be no movement until everyone is home from Asia.
Ahh. OK.
Good point.

Let's go, guys

How has it been better than 2/10 ?

- Tanganga was released on free. He is 25 yo HG player that played 50 games for us. Other clubs sell such players for like 10 mi
- PEH loan with obligation to buy, but he really seemed like valuable property after Euros, yet we look to make like 12-15 mil for him ? Again less than I was expecting.
- Rodon deal was OK but not very good. He was in the end, nailed on starter for side that nearly got promoted. Also HG player, I could have seen us getting 4-6 mil more than we got.
- Gil is loaned again (!) not sold. Pointless yo-yo game, throwing away, taking back. Losing money and wasting time.
- Perisic, Ndombele and Sess released - well with them it was fully inevitable, I agree with that much

Regulion, Royal still here and with Royal we are looking at 10 mil loss (!) despite OK performances on EPL level.

All of it together is absolutely horrendous.

Outgoings on their own is max 1/10, if not 0.

Look at our outgoings in previous windows. Then look how much has got done this summer already and consider that Emerson, Reguillon and GLC will also likely go and bring some money in.

Christ I saw him play for us away at Derby County - we lost 2-1 and I don’t remember him getting a touch. Taribo West scored a cracking own goal for us.

I do have to remind myself of the mid to late 90’s period when I get wound up by Spurs these days - I mean they were proper shit times outside of the League cup win in 99. Getting gubbed at Sheff Wed, never laying a glove on the scum, having George Graham as manager, half the ground shut and the other half not sold out. Sol Campbell, Darren Caskey being our promising youth player, a defence consisting of Stuart Netherafootballer, Kevin which way are we shooting this half Scott, Dean faaaacking Austin and the much missed and RIP Justin Edinburgh with Walker behind them. Going to Oldham in a do or get relegated game at the end of the season.

Now we’re faaacked off because we might only finish 4-7th next year.

Weirdly though, I always fancied us in the cups back then but no we barely stand a chance these days

Forgotten what my point was, anyway

We 100% did not.

We left ONE deal to last minute - Johnson.

We had Udogie locked up already ahead of last summer, but he de facto joined squad from start of the summer.
Madders AND Vicario joined from first day of window (!)
Solomon was closed on 11.07.
Micky official deal date was 08.08 (so 5 days before season opener), but if I recall correctly it was more or less sealed by this time last year.

So it is polar opposite of last season - we had THREE starting players coming in on first day of transfer window (!).
Right now we have signed 3 18-year olds, but no players in their prime age.
I didn't say it was last minute, but it was exactly the same wasn't it? Both Johnson and VDV were done late, after the tour, people were incredibly antsy, and started to come up with scenarios where we only sign Lenglet on loan.

There is an element of truth in some of this but

Do you consider VdV and Romero as second and third tier signings?

I would rather them than a varane or casimero who are supposedly world class prem ready players

The clubs policy is clearly to be signing top young talent

Vicario, Udogie, are these not top players ? Or is it that they’re not expensive enough or enough of a household name?
I agree they are fantastic player but only Romero had massive plaudits to go off. I have no problems signing young top quality player with potential. The problem I have is signing that one player that takes the team to the next level and I think Latauro Martinez or Rafael Leao does that. These players have performed at a high level over a number of seasons. Both Varane who had injury problems and Casimero were too old.

I am also talking about signing that one transformative player that changes the front line.

Yago Santiago is moving to Elche on a permanent. I wish him the best, he obviously wasn't in Ange's plans but by all reports he's a talented player. Also, it's another deal no-one saw coming, Lange is running a tight ship.
