because it was common knowledge that Richarlison was the managers first choice at the time of signing so Levy pushed the boat to get the deal done thus overspending (think it was 50m plus bonuses).
Solanke doesn't appear to be our first choice.

Welcome to TFCpeople were moaning earlier that all were signing is kids
now we're linked with experienced prem ready players and people are still moaning
All 3 of them are risky. For the record, in my opinion, Neto is the sort of player you take a risk on. Not Solanke.
So not really much of an improvement. Also majority of solankes goals were in the champo.
I don’t think you understand.
If we sign all 3 of them then it’ll cost £150m+.
Do you genuinely believe Daniel Levy is going to sanction £150m+ in a transfer window for 3 mid table PL players?
Having them 3 as the primary targets almost guarantees disappointment and missing out. There’s no way in hell we sign all 3, and we’ll go into the season short.
I’d actually say Solanke 100% improves the first XI from day one the most given Richy’s troubles since moving here. All 3 of them are risky.
Neto: can he stay fit?
Eze: does he really fit our system, where will he play?
Solanke: is he actually good enough?
Each are concerning for different reasons, but obviously Solanke’s is the most worrisome.
I do find it amusing though that some people would turn their nose up at Solanke but fall head over heels for someone like Toney.
Especially as Toney would be considered the "cheaper" option too.
he got 6 goals in 22/23. although bournemouth were shitHe has improved drastically in the last few years counting his record form 5 years ago is pointless
I don’t think anyone’s head over heels with Toney. More a begrudging acknowledgement that we might be able to get a deal. Although it looks like he’s after a payday.I do find it amusing though that some people would turn their nose up at Solanke but fall head over heels for someone like Toney.

Are we going for Hospital XI?Gonna throw a name out there to see the reaction - I’m not advocating signing him so don’t destroy me, but we could probably pick DCL up for circa £25m this summer
Thoughts?
But then Romano wouldn't be reporting on it as I don't think he has sources internally at the club anymore.
Yep- and so the huge influence of agents/ intermediaries has meant he is a reliable source. But no one should get carried away- it's not like anyone has reported we're in advanced negotiations for Solanke. It was confirmed earlier this year (or late last year) that Romano is fed information by agents and intermediaries.
Some clubs he obviously has links with. But he is mainly a mouthpiece for agents.

All talk of Toney was 40+M wasn't it??I don’t think anyone’s head over heels with Toney. More a begrudging acknowledgement that we might be able to get a deal. Although it looks like he’s after a payday.
I don’t want to spend big money on either. There’s a lack of strikers about. Sink it into a star winger instead.
