I just wish we’d seen a hint of doing something slightly different in preseason but alas no. It’s going to be another frustrating season.
Yes I was looking forward to pre season, especially as those certain posters told us that, in his second season things improve, team gets better etc.
So far, all I have seen is the same as last season, some good football here and there, but largely toothless up front and rank bad defending.

we have 2 weeks before season starts, our CH's & LFB haven't had a pre-season so will need extra help in the first few games, will Ange setup to give extra protection ? (nothing he said last season tells us he will)
I'm not an agne supporter I don't see a way of playing, to me it appears to be just go out and charge forward lads
I'm an old guy and I like defenders to be able to defend first,
we play short from the keeper but lack players that can recieve and turn in one movement, so the ball often goes back to keeper who then has to kick "long" to players who can't hold the ball or win a foul to move us up the pitch, (like Kane used to)
there is more but its just a rant

Can’t believe the negativity here. Ange is a legend already. At the start of last season we were written off by every pundit as relegation possibles because we had just lost Kane. We played some of the best football I’ve ever seen in the premier league. New players like Udogie and VDV were brilliant. Injuries scuppered our top 4 chances not naivety. We have a bundle of new talent coming through to fill the injury gaps.

I have to assume the ‘Ange out’ crew don’t understand football or are Gooners

They are broken mate. We could have Pep here and they would still overreact like every single challenge for his system and players is the end of the world.

They just don’t have what it takes left in them too believe in anything. The end of the Poch era and Levy’s bs with Jose and Conte has broken them

How is he a legend?
I like ange he comes across as a decent bloke, but what has he done to achieve legend status.
If I have missed it then fair enough, but I have yet to see it.

I'm not sure if you are joking or not.

The first ten games were electric. Then the wheels fell off at Chelsea with injuries and suspensions.

We recovered at points with great wins against Newcastle, rescuing a draw against City etc.

Come January we started getting everyone back and fit, and Sonny/Afcon players. From February we had a mostly fit squad. The only performance of note was Villa, and they went down to 10 men.

In the 27 games since that Chelsea game, we were 9th in the form table. It was only that brilliant start that saw us hold on to fifth, with the worst run ever seen in the premier league era now in Ange's possession. When he had a mostly fit squad. Same squad as the start.

Nobody sensible thought we'd be relegated having lost Kane, and we ended up scoring more goals without him as the team took on the burden. Nobody sensible expected us to win the league either after that start.

But managers have been sacked for better results, and the concern is that we will be found out. The club leaving it this late in the day for reinforcements (albeit 4 weeks still) is hardly calming nerves and anxiety.

The "Ange out" crowd are essentially disgusted with the fall off in those last ten games, concerned he has tactical naivety and won't adapt his strategy for the opposition. That the form of the last 27 games is the more likely result than the initial 11.

5th without Kane was amazing. Missing out of CL for just 3 points is a shame. All in all it was a solid season. With many concerning warning signs. We also went out of both cups meekly without any effort. And don't say we lost to City because a), they were shite on the day and b), we always smoke City at home. Or we used to.

Injuries don’t explain why we were dogshit from March onwards when everyone important was available.

Ange deserves more time but there are legitimate questions over the way we collapsed last season. Hopefully he’ll answer them.

Coming back from a 3 month injury doesn’t mean you are back fit.

Playing every minute of every game because everyone else is injured doesn’t mean you are fit either.

The selective context to maintain the negativity is transparent.

No team is going to play a whole season like we did the first 10 games. There will be periods like that for us this season and hopefully after the transfer window we have a bit more of a squad to fit the manager which makes us more stable and able to put players out who are fit enough to play this style when we aren’t flaming hot like those first 10 games.

What will be fucking annoying is when people start bitching and moaning about even the wins because we have to grind them out at times.

We might as well have kept Jose and Conte then if grinding out wins is necessary, regardless of performances.

I have no issue with losing games. I take umbrage with playing shit and not learning from mistakes. I'd rather lose having played well, enjoying the performance than play wank all game and get a lucky break. Some games we played excellent stuff, no question. Some games we had no clue. That was most of the last ten.

You say there will be periods like this again this season - we have NEVER before seen a collapse of that level in Premier League history. No manager ever lost five is six games the spin. So you'll forgive me if I do hope we don't see *that* again.

Other teams have players injured then returning, how come they didn't have such a dramatic collapse?

Pep grinds out wins.

Every single premier league champion grinds out wins.

If you are expecting swashbuckling wins with incredible free flowing football every week in the premier league you’ve lost all connection with reality and you’ll be disappointed no matter what manager we have and what players we sign
