I remember all the windows.
I didn't know who Lloris or Vertonghen were, but I was excited for Dembele.
As usual though, it was a new manager. New manager = new signings.
More that it was a big sale that summer, Modric.

BINGO.

Sell big player, and or new manager = active transfer window. This summer is neither unless Richarlison is off to Saudi.

The familiar pattern and exactly why so many fans are suspicious of the club this summer. The Werner signing only made it look more likely.

This will be ignored and you'll be told that we need to do more compared to our rivals or something.
City have signed Savio and won the title again last season - what is it 4 years running.

Liverpool routinely win trophies and have a new man who might be running over their squad to see what he has before he strengthens.

Woolwich have finished second 2 years running

Villa are going from strength to strength.

Spurs are on 5 managers in 5 years, missed out on Europe altogether a couple of years ago, sold a generational talent and haven’t won a trophy since Dot Cotton hung up her bikini for the last time

He'll defend Levy with his dying breath mate.
Bung him and the rest of the Enicbots on ignore.

Liverpool signed nobody, City nobody, Gooners 1 signing and it's in a position they're already the best at, Villa a few signings but they've lost their best player and another v.good player, Newcastle meh, Chavski not strengthened.

Only United have made significant signings and even then 1 of them is out for 3 months plus.

The Euros/Copa has really buggered this summer for signings but i'm confident it will start picking up (for everyone) soon.
Liverpool, City, Woolwich were already better than Spurs. Spurs need to improve the squad to get closer to their standard.

So while the other clubs have not (yet ) strengthened these were already quite superior across a season, Spurs have not done a single thing to get closer to their level this summer ( at least so far )

So no signings for all the other three would still means they need to regress for Spurs to catch them, even if Spurs were spending , which they are not, if you know what I mean ?

It’s not really an issue, the club does not need nor want to compete with the “elite” level teams anyway. Spurs have decent revenue without the need to over stretch.

The business model would seem to be based on a top 6/european placing. Spurs are not going anywhere forward or especially backwards. It is what it is.

Don’t disagree with most of this but Ange was in the same boat as Slot last year and he/the club weren’t given much slack on here about taking time to analyse the squad before buying

So paint a positive light for our rivals and do the opposite for us...

Where's that negativity bias tweet again...:gallashmm:

Said it earlier this summer we act and show willing when we sell a big player, 2012 Modric, 2013 Bale, 2023 Kane.

Other than that i can think of 1 good transfer window, 2015 when we signed Son, Toby and Tripper (we also cleared out a load Soldado, Paulinho, Lennon etc). Apart from that you're back to 2004 or 2005 when we did well taking advantage of a skint West Ham and Leeds.

Funnily enough we also spent big and showed urgency when we in a relegation scrap January 2009. Amazing how that focused a few minds.
