Are you upset we might only get 20m for a 32 year old solanke ?

Nah my concern is, if we pay 65mil for Solanke that is our striker for the foreseeable. Not our striker for next season and maybe we upgrade. That's him for a while, and worried the level he is and the level he will. take us to.

134 prem appearances and 29 goals is on par with Brennan Johnson, who plays out wide and is hated on.

I really don't hate the player, would take him here. Just concerned at the whole package and how this club behaves.

Its an awful signing every way you look at it.

Please explain what is so good about Solanke?

He cant even get in the England squad. Fullkrug did very well at the euros and cost a pittance.

It’s been explained to you a thousand times in here why he’s a good player and a great fit for what we need.

You’ve never managed to explain what part of his football game isn’t good enough.

I’m not repeating it again. It will happen or it won’t and if it does I think he’s going to be quality for us.

The Euros are a terrible reason to sign a player. It’s been established so many times in history.

Solanke is alright. Pretty good striker. If we sign him for 65m we’ve had our pants pulled down though. Weird how we seem willing to pay big bucks for the likes of Johnson and Solanke. Decent footballers but they aren’t raising anyone’s bar.

Where the fuck are you pulling this from?
Not pulling it from anywhere, just based on Spurs management having a different approach over the past year. And you have to logically believe they won't come out of the window without a new striker so there must be a reason it hasn't happened yet. I also believe they are still in for Eze based on the lack of other suitors for him, which is surprising. Doesn't mean I'm an apologist for Mr. Levy, I just know that there's always transfer business that comes down to the wire. It's frustrating, but it's been that way for a long time and not just for Spurs.

Been a great thread to read through today guys.

Some absolute bangin' posts and fantastic contributions with loads of common sense, insight and some good humour thrown in

Take a bow guys!

We spent £60m on Richarlison two years ago and are now looking to replace him. That's a normal fee for half-decent striker now, at least when a PL club is buying. We are fucking rich as is the rest of the PL, spending £60m on Solanke is not going to bankrupt us or stop us signing players if he flops. It's not 2018 anymore.

Nunez cost £70m, Nkunku cost £50m, Richi £60m, Jesus £45m, these are all normal fees now. West Ham just spent £30m on a 31 year old who scored 12 times in the Bundesliga last season. £60m on Solanke is a perfectly reasonable deal.

So many of our fans accuse Levy of being cheap and not understanding the market yet they think they are being overcharged when one of last seasons best PL forwards is being quoted at the same price we paid for our biggest flop. Solanke is young, English and scored 19 PL goals last season. Do people think he should be cheap?
