If Solanke was foreign and had scored 19 goals in a lesser European league instead of the PL last season, people would be jizzing in their pants over him.
I mean I don’t even disagree with you, but unfortunately whatever fans think with our puny brains and misguided rhetoric based off of 10 minute YouTube clips means very little. It doesn’t make Solanke a world beater, he’s a good PL centre forward who’s going to come in and do a good job. The issue is allocation of funds for me. We don’t have game breaking elite talent in our attack and while he improves us, he doesn’t change that issue.

Fans just discovering that the striker market is fucked, what do you think a £60m striker gets you these days? We literally paid that much for Richy who hasn't scored more than 13 in a season :D
We didn’t need to buy him. I’m sure 2 years ago there could have been other CFs we could have gone for? Whoever scouted and recommended that purchase really needs investigating. I remember at the time I said he was shite and lots on here says he could play anywhere in the front 3. Then we played on the right and was shite they said oh not his best position. Then played on the left same. Played centrally and still crap in general as he can’t keep hold of the ball.

O Keefe says the coaching staff was really impressed with Lankshear, and aren't opposed to him starting on the bench, but they may loan him for his development.

Well heres my reasons. Solanke failed to make it at Chelsea, failed to make it at Liverpool. Hes had 1 good season in the prem in his career at mid table fodder Bournemouth.

Bang average

The fact that he’s only had one top class season should certainly be taken into consideration, but you have to consider so much more when you analyse a player. Salah flopped at Chelsea, should Liverpool have steered clear because he had a big club failure on his early CV? De Bruyne had the same thing.

I’m not comparing Solanke’s quality to theirs but he is a big, strong player with a good range of finishing. He was quite clinical last season playing for a team with mediocre creativity. I don’t see him as a player with obvious technical, physical or mental flaws that would make it hard for him to score goals for us. If anything those failures at big clubs in his early career might make him even more hungry to succeed here.

Now of course he might flop but that’s the case with any transfer. Why is he less likely to succeed than a player like Gyokeres? Someone who has never even played at this level? I’m not saying we have to sign him but I don’t understand those people laughing at the idea. Good English players are expensive. We just paid £30m for Archie Gray who has never played a PL match yet nobody complains about that fee.

"I personally love homegrown players, love academy players coming through. I think that's what it's all about.
If you had a squad of 18-21 players all from the academy and they were winning titles I think it would be amazing.
Like I actually, genuinely think that."

Lee McQueen, LWOS.

Can't believe there's not an "isn't that right, ladies and gents, viewers and listeners?" in there.

(Joking aside, I met him years ago at a party - not a clue he supported Spurs, I just recognised him from The Apprentice - and he's a really nice guy)

Tough read last few pages with all the cunt offs and all the debate about “ambition”, who’s good and who’s shit.

I’ve deliberately refrained from posting over the last month or so because you can only really judge a window when it’s closed (or when the season starts at a push).

There’s still time to go, but I think whether you’re Shadydan Shadydan or Tottenham Massive Tottenham Massive , we can all agree that 2 quality attacking players is a minimum requirement , and 3 should be what we want as fans.

All season, every cunt from ENIC in to ENIC out has astutely observed our lack of attacking quality and how it’s impacted our overall performance. To buy any less than 2 first teamers than can challenge in that area would be mismanagement.

Hopefully we all agree on that….

It’s been frustratingly slow thus far but let’s hope the next couple of weeks have more positivity in store for us. It’s too early to start throwing toys out the pram.

If we don’t make substantial improvements to the front line it’s going to be a rally really frustrating season though, the window is clearly not good enough thus far.

NB - for me Eze, a winger who can fucking beat a man and a CF would have me very very positive going into the season. It’ll be costly but it’s not beyond reality if we do want to be ambitious.
