Solanke goals wise did very well last season but if you watch the goals he looks to be more of a tap in merchant than an all round striker. There’s nothing necessarily wrong with being a tap in merchant E.g. Defoe but he can’t be our sole striking option. At least when we had Defoe we also had Berbatov and I think Keane.
What’s interesting is how we can go from ‘apparently’ spending £200m this summer to being happy with getting 2 attacking players. Well no combination of Neto, Gyokeres, Solanke, Eze etc is going to cost £200m. Then add on the players who have left and those close to leaving and we’re going to end up in profit lol
With Richarlison now rumoured to be leaving it will be interesting to see if his fee is paid upfront from the money bags Saudi’s. This may open the door to meet Palace’s requirements for Eze? If he does go, there now shouldn’t be any reason why financially we can’t bring in a striker, Eze and Neto.

They’re a rarity but the better teams get around this by having 3-5 attacking options who will all contribute goals and assists. We don’t have this
