Could say the same of Gyökeres tbf. Would need to spend something like 100m+ for something more certain and Spurs just aren’t that club.
Haha this guy it taking pelters, I gotta rate the stubborn insistence...this is exactly the reason why others didn't want to name any names because they know they their suggestions would have been mocked
I’m reasonably happy with Solanke in truth, I don’t think he’s a needle mover but I’ve always quite liked him and he’s a definite improvement on where we’re at. He’ll be good for us.
I guess my only concern is the fee. I really really would like us to bring in:-
1) a CF
2) A Neto-esque wide player who can beat a man
3) Eze
If signing Solanke at 60m (ish) precludes us doing either of the other 2, I’d be inclined to take either Toney or David instead (who I think are inferior but not by a mile) at lower feels to ensure we get the 3 new players in that I think we need.
Quality in wide areas and MF have been a priority over a CF for me…..
Happy with Solanke but my view of the transfer will ultimately be determined by the other pieces that follow.

Side note: Luke Amos was quality before that horrible injury. He was next up after Mason, Bentaleb, Carroll

Totally agree. The talking up of Solanke is way OTT. He's a modest improvement on Richarlison but noticeably not injured all the time. Fine, its a bit of a shitty striker market this summer. But if its just him and an injury prone Neto that is nowhere near good enough particulaly if Richarlison goes. We need an Eze type and another quick left sided utility defender. Solanke has proven he can score alot of goals in this league so on paper seems a good choice to me , he can just get straight to work in a superior attacking team.
but he doesnt have a sexy profile many crave to make us look bigtime to our rivals
to satisfy people's desire we'd have to break our record by a hell of a lot for a Sesko, openda, Vlahovic, Martinez offer massive wages and then convince them to come
and none of those fancy names are guaranteed to be able to find the back of the net in the premier league
So the Solanke rumours hotting up suggests that the Richy to Saudi rumours definitely have legs then imo. Shame as its depth we need as well so would have liked Solanke and Richy in an ideal world really.
My favourite player ever was probably Riquelme. Complete opposite of pressing and athleticism, just a wonderful footballer that always had time and did his ting
Whereas as mysterious 21-year-old scoring shedloads against farmers excites the fanbase, comes in, scores a couple and then gets totally overwhelmed by the intensity of the PL and melts away.
