I’m a bit disappointed in our data analysts and scouts if they’ve scoured the market and the best they can come up with for nearly 70 million pounds is a player who has hit double figures in the premier league once.

I don’t know what he has great stats mean other than he had a good goalscoring season. The rest of his underlying numbers are not super impressive.

Again, I like him. I rated him last season and if he signs I won’t shit on it. But if Woolwich hijacked this and signed him next week the amount of backtracking some of you would do is monumental.
His numbers are very good and in any case, I trust experts over Joe on Twitter any day.

My starting point is not scepticism about people who know a lot more than me.

Then we may as well not have opinions at all. Experts decided on 60 for Richarlison. Experts decided on 120 for Enzo Fernandez and 60 for Ndombele.

Clubs make weird decisions all the time and it’s okay for mere mortals to have opinions on transfers.

We have not suddenly appointed deities because we’ve ‘fixed’ our recruitment.

Noises coming out of club are that we are not looking to have subpar players anymore - it’s better to sign no one than someone who isn’t right for the project… otherwise you are left trying to sell mediocre players two years later with no PL buyers and everyone on the continent broke.

Let’s bring in the right players even if they take a bit longer to bring in.
Good idea.....a path trodden during Poch's tenure and mainly responsible for not winning something during the best period we had in doing so for many a year.

I fear Veliz is the next player to join the eternal winter of pointless loans until we sell him for a derisory amount in a couple of years.

Another impact signing.

Now Alejo, don't mind the camera, no one is watching...................

We have got a serious modern, data-led department. With Lange in charge we know that there has been a rigorous data-led approach with an effort to find someone who suits how we play. We know that’s how they work.

Every transfer is a risk but the signing of Solanke could be great.

Nobody is claiming there is an obviously better choice for a position we need to fill and 60-70m.

Who have we been seriously linked to up front?

Gyokeres, David, Gimenez, Solanke.

No idea how many of those were real and sustained except Solanke.

Not sure who else you think we should be in for? Isn’t it possible Solanke is the best option?
I honestly don’t think David or Gimenez are even close to Solanke if we’re talking about #9s in the Premier League. Gyokeres is one who the Twitter scouts and stats love but when watching him I’m not all that convinced. He's a bull, incredibly strong, but I’m not sure how good he actually is.

Yeah very possible.

For me, end of the window, judgement time on the club as a whole.

Does the window look smart & ambitious, that's all I look for.

Players can end up being shite. I was hyped for Ndombele, Soldado etc

Just want it to look like we want to compete at the top, I know there is no guarantee that we will.

Your posts are indistinguishable from an Woolwich fans.

Posting awkward pictures of Lange.

Constant sarcastic criticism of how we operate.

Nothing positive or insightful. Nothing remotely good faith
Why anyone who's been a fan long enough would have any faith is beyond me.

The same happy clapping was being trotted out at the beginning of this window, we were told it was the Copa & the Euros that were to blame and now we're being told that Solanke was the truth all along which begs the question why there's only talk about it now with a week or so left before the season starts etc but your blind faith obviously gives you the strength to call fans who've seen it all before Woolwich fans.

More chance of Solanke developing into a 20 goal per season than Richy. I’m all for it
Not sure how anyone can reach that conclusion. Their per 90 numbers across the board are very comparable, Solanke is a marginally better passer that's about it.

Solanke has the benefit of an extra year and being HG, but I wouldn't say he has a better chance of nailing down that position.

But having both of them is good - play the hot hand this season, whoever proves better stays next season and we move the other on. Buy the best CF we can find on next years market, rinse and repeat.
