Do you not believe the signings the last few seasons have been operating better than the 5 years previous?

Buys

Romero
Porro
VDV
Sarr
Udogie
Vicario
Maddison
Dragusin
Gray
Bergvall

I would say all good quality signings with high ceilings for many.

Obviously we have had some misses, everyone does though and there can't be an expectation for perfection.

Also we have been moving on our deadwood much better the last couple of years too.

So if operating better is what you want to see, then surely better has been achieved.

Not to say we are run as well or spend like we should...
Mixed bag to me

Some really good , some not so good and some where the jury is still out

It's an improvement on previous years but that's a bloody low bar

We could have plucked a van load of bums from skid row and they'd have been better than our signings between 2018 and 2021

Anybody that thought the new members of the team would bring change have been gullible again. Facts are facts. Levy has NEVER fully backed any of his Managers. The man only wants to invest money to gain financial returns. It’s not rocket science.
Levy’s only had 25 years you melt. Give him a chance ! #25moreYEARS

Problem is we are not in a Dissimilar position to Utd the difference is they have made two signings for their first team. There is talk of them doing 2/3 more this window. The fact is we would have probably finished behind them last season if they did not have to play Johnny Evans at CB for 10-15 games.
They also had a better season than us by winning the fa cup. Bloody hell. Imagine winning an fa cup!

It doesn't make sense to me losing Richy to get solanke.
If the manager us serious about challenging the top boys then, you need competition for places.
If solanke gets injured we are fucked, Son can't play up front on his own, it showed up last year it didn't work.
Seems all to familiar one in one out policy, I'm happy about solanke coming in, but not at the expense of a competitive squad.

Thanks for the triggered non-sequitur response without answering the question.
I can’t remember how I felt then so I’m not going to make something up.

However Im saying your question is IRRELEVANT. Even if you assumed something in 2018, the verifiable reality of our football club is very different from 6 years ago and so drawing any inferences from then is not appropriate.

Granted this does not mean that we necessarily need to sell him to buy Solanke, but rather that we will sell him and buy Solanke, but people will interpret that as they will.

Stop indulging the balcony-owning Frenchman.

He’s not a Spurs fan. Doesn’t give a shit about where the team ends up. Only time he demonstrates any visceral footballing concern is when France play.

It absolutely does.

It would take special kind of idiot to let 60 m EUR player rot on the bench.
He hasn't fullfilled even quarter of expectations and such players have to be moved on before they become worthless.

That's how clubs with ambitions operate; unless they have some oil-rich sugardaddy and dubious sponsorship deals. Just look at Aston Villa and Diaby. Or Bayern and Mane or Gravenbach.

Literally the alternative would be to keep him as substitute player and see him sold for 10 mil in 2 years time. So whenever there will be offer 30+ mil EUR from Saudis, he has to be on his way out, granted we'll get a suitable ST in.
There's zero way a "club with ambition" goes into a season with a brand new striker with 1 good season at Bournemouth being backed up by a youth academy prospect with 0 minutes of senior football.

No - that's not how a "club with ambition" operates. A "club with ambition" employs 2 experienced players in any given position and pushes them to compete - winner stays and loser is moved on and replaced...with another experienced option.

I reiterate - people have gone fucking nuts over these academy kids this summer for some reason. Outside of Kane, our academy barely produced anything above Championship quality since Ledley King - yet some of you think it's all of a sudden put out 4 top quality PL players?

Insane. If 1 of these kids becomes a credible squad player at THFC it will be a success. Most will be moved on to Norwich, Wolves, etc.
