There are multiple top tier clubs in the PL, La Liga, etc that have multiple academy players in important roles in the first team. City has Foden and Rico Lewis. They had Cole Palmer and he moved on because they didn’t have room for him.

I don’t think it’s too much to ask to have one academy player move up and play an important role every couple of years.
He can correct me if I'm wrong but I believe that's his point. 1 academy player cemented into the 1st team every couple of years is actually a good return. To expect a class '92 is a bit much and actually unfair on the kids.

Absolutely there are clubs with academies that produce quality - these good players come from somewhere.

But our academy has produced 2 top PL players in 20+ years. The idea that the 4 being talked about this summer are going to make it is preposterous.

I like them. I hope they make it. One of them might, which will be great. There's no chance they're all going to be quality PL players. No way we can go into the season expecting them to play significant roles.

There's clubs out there who we are currently rivaling in the league who haven't won fuck all for donkey's years yet their fans don't act like saps...yet our own fans peddle this woe is us/loser mentality and are happy to wear this Spursy tag like it's a fashion item in order to push the very same narrative, it's boring.

Nothing worse than fans taking the piss out of their own clubs and openly trolling those who happen show a bit of positivity about the club they support, weird behaviour.

Weird behaviour or is it not at least partially the ability to think objectively so as not to be blinded by own desire to see team thrive?

Some people find the opposite nauseating, I.e. to speak only about how good they are at everything without any introspective critique.

What other clubs are you referring to?

Moore is the absolute gem we have to look after as for the others it's hard to say, I agree with you that the vast majority won't make it with us but I don't think it hurts keeping them in and around the team as long as they're given adequate mins here and there without harming results, there's plenty to go around this season.

Constant jibes every say at the direction at your own club is not thinking objectively, it's being a twat.

The other clubs I'm talking about are Villa and Newcastle.

Isn’t the fact that there are still over 3 weeks of the transfer window to go, a convincing rebuttal to your concerns?

If we’re here with 48 hours to go then I get it. But for now we’re still spinning plates and trying to do the right thing for the team. No one will care about these three weeks come January if we can get the best possible player in.
Not really bud. We all knew halfway through last season what we needed. And whilst the window has three weeks to go, it’s been open a lot longer than that.

I’m usually very patient and understanding of what goes on, or doesn’t. I’m not Levy or ENIC Out, but they are pushing their luck here.

Yes, we could make a couple of great signings now, but I’m certainly coming round to the idea that it would have been much better to have our shit together by now. Get new players integrated with the squad. Make sure they and their families are settled into new homes and schools. Rather that than parachuting them in late August.

Just don’t get why we aren’t getting business done this window. Plenty of reasons before this one, but everything that caused issue in the past seems to be sorted now. So why the lack of action?

Well if you want to be disingenuous and pretend as if Spurs being the only club in premier league history to not sign a player in a calendar year was remotely a possibility for you then fine. Your non-answering will suffice.

And putting IRRELEVANT in caps doesn't make it so. It is entirely relevant, especially given you're assuming that I don't think we'll sign anyone. I'll quote you again:

Now tbf quality is subjective but to make my point clear so you don't make assumptions again, for a club who signed zero players for an entire year, I would not put it past them to not sign a couple of quality players for the remainder of this window. This club is more than capable defying belief in transfer windows. I have no idea where we will end up by the end of the transfer window, that was never my point. But to question whether people should be concerned about expecting multiple quality signings going forwards, yes, they have more than enough evidence to support a healthy level skeptism as to what this club defines as quality as well as what is enough.
Quality is subjective but when you’re talking about 20-70m signings then I think we can say we’re talking about quality. So far we’re being linked with 50m+ signings.

You had very good attention to details when it suited you but displayed very poor attention to detail when it was inconvenient. The reason your comparisons with 2018 are irrelevant is not because the word was in caps. The supporting evidence was right there - since that transfer window (as the stadium was nearing completion), we have spent very well. In the past five transfer windows we have been too 4 for net spend and we are likely to be again this summer.

You can’t rationally cherrypick one season and ignore five other more recent seasons of countervailing evidence. The strength of your feeling should match the evidence.

Agree to disagree.

Newcastle fans have notoriously moaned about their owners for many years, and in fact since the takeover there is more optimism. Villa - I'm not familiar, maybe they're just much better ppl than us "twats" are

I agree that, we are in the same boat as villa and Newcastle.
In Newcastle case, they were all set for take off , or so they thought, but the FFP thing is keeping them from potentially taking over the big boys.
Villa are a good side, got CL partly because of our end of season collapse, when we beat them at theirs I thought CL was ours.
If we nab 4th spot this year that would be good.
