When you talk about “waiting for the right player” I think this is more akin to what that should mean in reality. Liverpool haven’t signed anyone yet this season but if they get this over the line it’s a signing that instantly improves their already excellent starting 11.
A quality ball playing 6/DM who, sadly, is exactly what we need in midfield. It’s such a shame we didn’t make any attempt to get him.
Have you thought about a new forum?
We averaged 1.13 goals conceded with our 1st choice back 4, which amounts to 43 over a season, so just keeping the 1st choice fit (or improving our back ups) should improve our goals conceded by around 18.
That could be further reduced by signing forwards that don't cough up the ball so often and a midfield that isn't sliced through like butter.
Not sure I disagree with that in my post? I think he was well backed in the market in his 2nd full season for us as well tbh, Alderweireld and Son both came in that year and plugged absolutely gaping holes in our first XI and we were off at the races then. Some squad signings like Trippier and Wimmer turned out to be pretty decent purchases that season as well tbh, Wimmer did have one good season for Poch and was sold at a rather obscene profit. You can't argue that Poch majorly flopped it when it came to making the "finishing touches" signings that really turn a great team into a title winning team, Sissoko, GLC and N'dombele all good examples of that, but he also did very well in tandem with Hitchen to identify some real crucial talents that formed the core of that squad for years to come. You mean back him by spending a club record fee to bring in Ndombele?
So much revisionist history around Poch. He was sacked because he got off to a terrible start to the season mere months after basically announcing to the press before the CL final that he wanted to quit the club. It was clear to all that he was tired and wanted out.
Gray and Bergvall are not naturally 6’s/DM’s though. I could see us potentially trying to mould Gray into one, but would that be negating his strengths? Who knows. That position likely not considered a priority for Spurs after signing Gray and Bergvall.
This signing may well because Liverpool have failed to sign anyone else, and a DM was not their priority whilst a successor for Saha was
All those recruitment were made when Poch was still "Head Coach", he lobbied heavily for "Manager" and a stronger hand in recruitment. Our success rate went down, his involvement and stubbornness surely contributed to the barren windows, and it all culminated with him getting the player he'd been fighting for - Tanguay Ndombele. Not sure I disagree with that in my post? And also a DM was absolutely a priority for them.
Just like Ange, the base of the midfield 3 is key for Slot’s system. Endo was decent for them but I don’t think he was ever seen as the long term answer.
They have a new manager in, he’s used pre season to asses the squad (which is already excellent and finished miles ahead of us last season), they’ve looked razor sharp in preseason and they now look close to brining in a player that will instantly improve their starting 11.Oh so we can't wait for the right player but Liverpool can, brilliant.
Let's roll out all the excuses and totally ignore the fact they've waited all Summer to make their first signing yet since Spurs are now singing a striker people question the club's ambition and aren't backing the manager

It should have been though. With the number of midfielders we have, including Bissouma as no 6, that position is/was not a priority for us.
I'm not convinced it was a priority for Liverpool either - I think its forwards but they have found there are not too many good ones available so they've gone for the best player available to them
I think it was just sarcasm aimed at a poster who labelled fans who criticise ENIC as wife beaters, mate.
It should have been though.
Bentancur, Skipp, Sarr, Gray and Bergvall are all essentially the same type of player. None of them are comfortable playing that 6 lone DM role that is crucial to Anges system.
Bissouma is okay at best at the role but I think he cannot be the long term solution.
Perhaps they believe Gray or Bergval can be trained into the role but I don’t see why you wouldn’t just get a specialist in the role rather than putting square pegs in round holes.
bIf solanke was the plan then yeah why wasn’t it done as early as Werner’s loan and just announced first day of transfer window.
Can you please just stop this silly nonsense of using clubs who win stuff regularly as some kind of weapon for excusing our own inactivity and lack of ambition.Oh so we can't wait for the right player but Liverpool can, brilliant.

They’re just on a totally different level to us in terms of competence when it comes to recruitment.
You’re right it’s taken them a while to make a move, but I would bet my bottom dollar their squad will be in a far better place than ours by the end of the window.

It's wearing thin and its not doing your argument any favours at all, mate
That will be gold so it has to be dream signing or he loses all club perksBut I just read football.london and it said Solanke was a dream signing![]()
