cant say I have much hope this season bearing in mind how mediocre our squad is and only Solanke and Neto linked.

I cant see us spending 120m on those two. Solanke is probably the most likely.

But it all looks so average. Who out of our attacking players is worth spending best part of 100 quid to go and see?

The drop off from Kane to Solanke is depressing.

We once had Defoe, Keane, Berbatov and Bent. What happened?

Bent's best season for Tottenham he scored 12 goals. I think with those ideas at this point he is probably not as highly appreciated as Solanke

He is 26 and his best season tally prior to last season was six goals. I can reel off a very long list of mediocre strikers who had a one off great goalscoring season, if you’d like.

FYI, I actually don’t think he’s subpar. But he definitely isn’t top tier and massively goes against the idea we’d rather wait to sign a ‘perfect’ player than overpay for a less than perfect one.

70 million for him is laughable. He was still behind xG last season, Bournemouth were great offensively. One good season shouldn’t make a player worth that fee.

Which strikers are top tier?

And don’t come at me with some Julian. Alvarez nonsense

Kane would not have fitted in Ange’s system.

Ange said several times that he would have happily used Kane.

Would Kane have been willing to do the press work out of possession to make Ange’s system work ? Who knows?

If he didn’t, then we saw in the Euros, it didn’t matter that’s he’s the best finisher in Europe, and the most complete striker in the world with the ball, no team can afford a total passenger out of possession

Those of you who thinks Solanke isn't ambitious.

Who would be, and be attainable?

I never thought anyone could replace Kane's role before. That player came and the team's number of goals remained the same as the period with Kane, I was satisfied with that replacement.

Bent received the most playing time among Tottenham's strikers that year. I would be surprised if anyone thought he was a fourth-choice striker at that time.

I understand what you're saying, but I think an elite manager would have enough flexibility to figure out how to use him. Either Postecoglou will turn out to be one of the top managers in the game or his system will make a hard landing at some point. I don't pretend to know which is more likely, but I do wonder if his system is so great why the attacking is still often uninspiring. I know it's fashionable to blame it on Son and Johnson but those are two pretty good players.

Chin up!

We lost Kane last season, VDV, Richy, Udogie, Bissouma, Bentencaur had long abscences through injury.....Yet we still the best team for the first half of the season and were just fraction off 4th place.

I really don’t understand why this thread exists. It’s 1500 pages of total bollocks about players we either won’t sign, can’t sign or shouldn’t sign. Then whoever we do sign is hailed as the solution when in reality no fucker has any clue if that will be the case.

It’s literally like dogs chasing their tails.

Mind you it’s not quite as bad as SC which has an entire forum dedicated to this nonsense. At least we contain it to a single thread.
Go elsewhere then.

Who would you rather leading the line, Solanke or Kai Havertz.
