I prefer Tony over Soldado mark II, Ivan is a clever footballer, also strong ideal for PL and beyond. Failing those 2, there is always Shane Long and Ings.

Deadline day it is

If people wanted a high ceiling surely they'd want Solanke, who's borderline a 20 goal striker already?

Hope Levy doesn’t blink first and holds out for the best deal - even if we lose the first 4 games, as long as we can agree a deal that’s 200K below the buy-out, that’s the real win. Me, Levy, Shady, Airfixx and the other football geniuses know a deal when we see one

It absolutely does, sorry.

Fuck this talk about "5-6 decent players". We have decent already.
I want 3 brilliant players. Changes much more.

I'd still say that if we'd get Emerson, Eze and Gyorkes, it would have been very good window.

Centerback, after we purchased Dragusin and he almost had 0 chance to play??? Why? Unless you want another Joe Rodon in.
We have Romero, VDV, Dragusin, Davies and then some young guns (like Phillips) on top of it.

Regarding fullbacks, we have Udogie and Porro to start. It seems more likely than not that Spence might get another chance.

So we have
LB options - Udogie, Davies, VDV and Spence
RB options - Porro, Gray, Spence

Why buy "decent" player there when we could focus on improving starting XI (and players dropping in from XI can be used as cover/substitute)?

We could play 60 games this season. It’s us though isn’t it. What’s more likely from us. Three upgrades to the first team for big money or more players at lower fees spread throughout the squad? I agree with you, but we just don’t do that. I think we need another quick player on the left. If VDV and Udogie are out again at the same time, which on evidence is more than likely, then we are leaden footed on that side. VDV is our most important defender but unfortunately his hamstrings are made of cheese so he can’t play every game. We need another pacey defender there.

Yea timing is quite odd, he’s been available all summer, not sure why it’s taken us until a week before the season starts to make a move for him.

Because it’s us, I suspect. We’ve been waiting to convince Richy to leave and it has taken all summer. That’s probably happened now and we are bringing in Solanke with the money. Will be frustrating as we need more than one striker at the club but I can just see it being the dominos.

Think it’s way more likely that we end up with both Solanke and Richarlison than just Solanke. Not for lack of trying, but I just can’t see Richie moving to the Saudi’s league.

Would leave the front line paper thin as well. Potentially not as bad as last season with Moore and Lankshear now available, but would still impact our season.
I guess that depends on Richy and his knowledge of his own body and if he thinks he can stay fit and keep up with the intensity of Ange ball.

Maybe he's seen Kante extend his career going to Saudi and getting back into the France squad.
