Probably a 1/10 window so far and that 1 is just for selling some of the deadwood. Possibly a 2/10 if you include Gray but who knows how he will fair.
Legitimately only Solanke AND Neto can salvage this window. Anything less is criminal negligence.

And even then, given that Solanke was available all summer as he didn’t go to Euros, it’s still a failure to not get them in earlier.

Utterly daft thing to say. Sugar was an utter moron who had no genuine ambition for Tottenham.

You can criticise Levy for not being obsessed with winning but he has achieved things that Sugar never even dreamed of doing and didn’t give a shit about even attempting.

Times have changed, nobody gives a shit about tapping up anymore. Players have so many agents and intermediaries that it’s impossible to stop discussions happening.

The post got 6 agrees, mental 😆

Don’t misunderstand. I am not subverting nor praising Sugar. He made his coin from Spurs, he never seemed to entirely understand and many years under him were abject. To his credit. Some of the signings he approved were world class. To his discredit. He bought us the likes of Gross. 🤮

And the real point I should have got to is that in my view ( which ultimately matters not a jot ) Levy has done excellent for ENIC. But not Tottenham. His achievements deserve credit for his land investments and his successes in property development are superb. But ENIC is not Tottenham FC. And as such his on field achievements are nothing of exceptional note. ENIC is a well run business. Levy’s part of that is credit to him, I don’t feel Tottenham is a well run football team as, ultimately, it’s not competitive enough. At the same time the brand / club / clubs history has enabled ENIC to do what they have done.

That’s called ‘tapping up’.
In theory, the buying club need the selling club’s permission to approach the player (unless within six months of his contract termination).
Clubs will give permission for a player to instruct his agent to find another club so that permission is implicit, I guess.

My guess is that Tottenham gave permission for the Saudis to speak to Richardson based on a rough understanding of the fee involved (or reached out to Richy to grant permission for him to look for a new club) but he declined the move so there was no point in further negotiating ( a fee).
Honestly, that is not how the modern transfer process works. Players / agents / clubs speak months before a deal between club and club is agreed.

Same old spurs, manager says I want new players and preferably early in the window. Nothing happens to improve the starting 11 and the start oft the season is just around the corner.
No one can believe Ange is happy with this and everyone can blame Lange, Munn, scouts etc but at the end of the day there has been one consistent person behind the dusty trophy cabinet for the past 20+ yrs.

Get your finger and wallet out Danny boy, there is more to life than hotels and cheese rooms
It was summed up perfectly by someone a couple of days ago.

How is it that a FOOTBALL club can afford to build a new, state of the art 300 room hotel, but can't afford to buy a couple of top quality players much needed to improve the FOOTBALL team 🤷‍♂️

Bit of fun

Someone made a spreadsheet of Chelsea's signings under Boehly

Signing Bergvall and Dragusin had Lange in heavy credit with me, but I’m starting to think he’s another guy woefully out of his depth. His CV is a questionable, Villa booted him to a glorified teaboy when they got Monchi.

There was another target. Maybe Alvarez? The Copa win, then the decision to back up for Olympics, would have added delay. Then he chose AM anyway so we lost that target, and Plan B gets activated.

Or if not Alvarez then it was someone else that didn't pan out.
Nah it’s just BS. There was no links to Alvarez or solanke. In fact Alvarez only came about recently. City have made huge profit on him. £15M he cost wonder if we were offered him would have been great as Kane understudy rather than richi at £60M.
