Never clear on that as we qualified for CL in his first season at Spurs not 2nd season and the loan ran for a minimum 6 months with a possibility of 18 months.

So in theory we could have tried to exercise the break clause after 6 months only to be told an obligation to buy has been triggered but if you want an extra loan for a year that's fine

Without the detailed wording of the clauses its impossible to be sure : but we did buy him at end of 18 months, whether legally as an obligation or option unsure and it may have been at a compromise price as the wording of clause was imprecise and neither club wished to go to court over it.

We negotiated the fee down so didn't take the option - we wanted him. No suggestions of wording or court were made.
