interesting.

So Bissouma despite being the "6" has spent just as much time closer to the oppositions penalty area as he has ours.
His heat map is typical of what people refer to as a "box to box" midfielder (ie an 8) then a traditional 6.
Yeah, we don't play a solid 6 - why we shed goals - but we need to.

This is the light bulb that needs to go on for Ange.

He might have been able to get away with just robust CMs where he was before.

Looks like that's not going to work here.

Something has to change.

Just let Biss sit more, for starters.

Got Bervall and Gray who can add to progressing our play.

Just telling everyone to bomb forward is just looking silly now tbf.

it's looking another quite day then .

I'm beginning to think maybe we all got a little to used to and comfortable with the Paratici / Conte effect on the club's business, and we've gone back to the classic way

2nd season syndrome. Levy hasn't had this for a long time. Since Poch was sacked, we haven't had a manager start a 2nd successive season. They've all had their shiney new toys in their first window, then a new manager by the next summer window.

Locatelli ain’t the answer.

He isn’t very mobile. End of. Any midfield signing we make needs to be a very good athlete, adept in transitions and duels. He isn’t. Very talented and would keep us ticking over, probably immediately becomes the best passer in the squad. But I don’t see him as a great fit for us.

Transfermarkt published an article of our signings under Ange.

Does this also include Deki and Porro though, which is a little misleading?

Perhaps.

But if we can get rid of every squad member that hasn't got a future here (3 more to go). And hopefully bring in a quality left back competition for Udogie and perhaps that extra midfielder Ange wants. Then I'd be pretty content.

Would he annoying not to get the right winger, but it's really not a great market, same with the 6s. But hopefully Solanke's presence can help with the retention up top. And Moore can really push further on.

I guess we're just going to have to wait and see.

If we don’t sort the wing position out and the LB rotation I think it will cost us points this season.

Paratici was a deal maker with obviously a massive contacts list which counter balanced Levy somewhat as he could adapt to getting blown out by targets. At least to a degree.
It really does feel back to last minute haggling and see whats around last week.

TBF You said VDV was going to be shite so...you'll forgive me if I don't take you entirely seriously.

I don’t think he is telling everyone to bomb forward. The idea is they are all flexible enough to rotate so one sits when another goes forward,

Last year was about getting the mentality of the ball and men going forward. This year is about the details of who and when dependant on what we want tactically.

Especially in this system.

But honestly mate we are discussing this because none of us can work out what logic (if there fucking is any) the club are following in this window.

We are all trying to work out we are suddenly linked to 8’s who have been available all summer and wtf we are going to do now that Doue and Neto are off the table despite being our most consistent links.

I’m looking for positives but it smells of shit show in relation to the plan they actually had.

We haven’t suddenly been linked to 8s. Disregard the Athletic today. It’s a rehash of 2 weeks ago.

Anyway, all this chat of 6 and 8s and Johnson is fucking boring to read in the transfer thread.

Thing is you can have No 6s with different qualities too. Rodri is as close as you can get to an all-round player. But you can have a Paulinha type who are more about protecting space, winning duels and establishing physical dominance, but not as great a passer. Or you can have a Michael Carrick type, who still protects space, is not as physical, but launches attacks with metronomic quality.
You can, this is Gemini AI's version of what a 6 and an 8 look like.

Templates for each, but we know every player is different

I wonder if Ange really pushes for Gallagher now that looks like it's collapsing.

Chelsea NEED the cash. That's evident.

With Gallagher and Solanke pushing and pressing I think it massively transforms that attack.
