Player Wilson Odobert

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Most of this board had zero idea he was even alive until we signed him. That’s probably a good thing, we’re fans the people who run things are supposed to be far more informed than us.

We sign a lot of these young players and our hit rate is pretty low. But some of them do come off and we can only hope this lad is one of them.

Time will tell.
I don't think our hit rate is terrible. Since Paratici came in we bought:
Sarr (success), Gil (failure), Udogie (success), Spence (to be seen), Veliz, Phillips, Gray, Bergvall, Yang, and Odobert.
So really only one failure, but obviously for more it's too early to judge.

Okay talk to me...

That's the answer right there in a nutshell. For many, hating Levy is simply a baseless and unreasoned pursuit.

He's an intensely dislikeable, creepy human being with all the charisma of your average bit of discarded snake skin, its not baseless or unreasoned. He's weird. He came across as even weirder in that amazon doc, like an alien imitating human life.

There's a lot of reasons to generally not like him and when you don't like a bloke you don't go "fair play satan, you did make a coffee for me that one time" instead you assume they probably spat in the coffee in the first place.

first percentile for passes attempted is absolutely bonkers for an attacking player
It’s compared to all midfielders (i.e. DMs, CMs, all central players etc), which is why he’s first percentile for touches as well. Come on you’re smarter than this.

If you want to be negative fine but this is piss poor reasoning, it’s more a function of how crap Burnley were last year and his role within that team. The data that clubs actually use isn’t available on FBref.

uh yeah and if you compare him to the average winger (say brennan johnson) they're in the 25th percentile or so lmao, not the 1st! Even his own teammate Koloesho (who isn't particularly good) isn't anywhere near as demonstrably bad as that.

We'll see with this guy. I wasn't hugely sold on the brief bits I saw of him last season. He can take a man on and that's good as we really lack dribblers who open teams up, but there's a shit load of rough edges to hone out if he's gonna be a diamond.

He's in the first percentile for touches for forwards as well, truth is he's just not that involved in games, he's sort of like Brennan Johnson, except he dribbles and carries the ball more.
Brennan Johnson touches touches per 90 23/24: 41.16
Odobert touches per 90 23/24: 36.21
Brennan Johnson touches touches per 90 22/23: 24.72
It's not the end of the world, he can be coached to be more involved in games, but maybe this is a profile we're looking for in a winger.

Seems a little over the top...

I never watched the Amazon doc, so don't have any opinion there.

I honestly think basic stats like touches and passes are just a function of team and role more than the player. The comparison to 22/23 Johnson is helpful, because, much like Johnson, he plays for Burnley, one of the worst possession sides in Europe by the numbers, in a role where he wasn’t the main outlet.

Like I said I wish he had an X factor physically, like 20% faster or stronger, but I’m not worried at all about lack of touches in our system, it’s basically a non sequitur.
