Was clearly a joke mate.

Thinking back to the home game last season now and I do remember them having a dangerous looking attacker who caused us a few problems until he got near the goal. Seems it was this bloke.

He’s not going to come in as a starter, which is what we need. Looks like another bloody project (I hate that term for a player. You either are a player or not) rather than someone who’ll come in and make an impact straight away.

Looking at his profile, he will definitely make a difference to the way we play so I think he'll be a regular starter come October IMO

what are you - ten?

whether he failed to meet your lofty standards or win any silverware, or not - IMO he produced the best team and best footballing side at the club since the 80's

Back then, the game was a level playing field, and we won things.
since then stupendously rich people and massively cash rich owners have taken over clubs and made winning anything almost impossible outside of 3-4 teams with that spending power.

Our owners don't prioritise the money the club makes on investing in the team the way the fans want, they run it as a business for their shareholders.

Try thinking before you post
Mick Cooper Mick Cooper , I'm gonna play fair.

You post some proper shit at times.........but this is a superb post that nails it much more eloquently than I ever could, my friend, and credit where credit is due.

Just to add my tuppence worth.

Considering the meagre resources he was given and with his hands tied up in a knot.... in the toughest league in the world,..... it was a super human effort for Pochettino to get us so close so often.

Remember the song we used to sing with such gusto?

Ange, wether you love him or not, hasn't scratched the surface or achieved anything like as much to be mentioned along side Poch.

Thing is, Burnley were a failing team last year who didn’t have a proper goal scorer and never had their attacking balance right. He might look much more like the finished article (and be better) in a more balanced team. Let’s hope so.

Our (more data driven?) scouting and transfer business has been good recently so that should give everyone a bit of optimism. But honestly, at his price and with his profile you would still expect there to be a more than 50% chance that he doesn’t make a significant impact at Spurs. But if he turns out like VDV or Vicario, and is instantly 20% better than we expected, he could be a real gem.

One of the true tests of the club isn’t the ability to spend 30 mil on young emerging talents because all the clubs we are competing with have exactly the same lists. The more difficult thing to do is be ruthless with these players if they disappoint and keep on spending the 30 mil+ on a winger who can dribble each season until you get exactly the player you want. Good luck persuading Levy to do that!

Strange you agree with that because it totally contradicts what you constantly bang on about us not winning trophies...if you acknowledge there's only 3-4 clubs who win trophies with cash rich owners then you probably have to question your own expectation of this club...

What’s interesting watching the ‘Mission to Burnley’ documentary is how much emphasis they put on data led recruitment - which obviously flagged Odobert up to them last year.

Clearly those same markers flagged up all over our own recruitment dashboard this summer!

Fans love a tricky player that takes on his man, so hopefully he can become a fan favourite quite quickly . . .

The squad is not the same as the first 11
Yeah ok, but I don’t quite care about squad since we’ve had our usual first 11 fit since January onwards.
I don't know about 11 per se, but Palmer and Gallagher get in our first team, I'd take Colwill and Madueke. And they just signed Neto. That's five Chelsea players straight away.
Palmer would definitely start over anyone in our 11. Gallagher? Not so sure. Who would you swap him for? Bissouma? Sarr? I don’t think he’s an improvement over our starting CMs (or Bentancur).

Colwill is what, a CB? Would you start him over VDV or Romero? Probably not, right?

What about Madueke? Would you start him over Kulu or Johnson? Imo it’s a 50/50, but I don’t think he’s a clear improvement on our players.

Don’t know why you include Neto since this was about last season’s teams.

You mean you don't care about the squad argument because it doesn’t suit your argument.

If you're comparing managers then you have to compare squads, manager don't pick the same 11 week in week out, that's not how it works.
