WOW. That's a truly horrible team.

Great to see us moving on the deadwood. Get Gio, Solomon and Reggie out after Skippy and that's job done.

We're now sitting at a lowly 60m net spend... plenty of dry powder left to add to the squad.

That’s on boregate though as his tactics was to sit deep and not have the ball. We will have the ball. Anyway who were you think would be the other player with Eze.

I’d say 90% of good tactics is just playing the right players in the roles that suit their skillset.

Tripper-Foden-Bellingham was a disastrous Left hand side combination, and it didn’t need a rocket scientist to work that out.

I think too many fans a guilty of wanting players for their own personal self gratification, instead of taking a step back, looking at how the manager sets up his team, and going from there.

example: the type of players who Conte wanted are not the same as Ange and we should adjust accordingly.

Under Ange, the wingers are the Primary width-giver and that’s just not Eze’s game.

He needs an overlapping fullback to be see the best of him, so he can have the freedom to drift inside. Ange won’t give him that. I’ve never wanted us to buy Eze for that reason. The Odobert transfer delighted me because it showed a hard commitment towards the type of player with attributes that we were after, not a big name who plays differently.

However people want to spin it, Wilson Odobert is far more likely to replicate what we wanted from our first choice, Nico Williams, than Eberiche Eze would have. To me that’s really “backing the manager”.

Is this guy ok? it's already been revealed his 6m buy back has now expired. Why would we let that expire just a few days ago only to pay 15m.

I said we should buy him back at the start of the window.

It really wouldn’t make sense to do it after the buyback. Is Cirkin actually CT anyway?

Tbh I think Ange isn’t looking for anymore young players now. I’m expecting a CM that’s 25ish and a CB/LB who is pushing VDV for minutes.

If we are talking about backing the manager and whether Ange is a Levy yes man, we need to talk about the ruthless nature of this clear out.

I know POK isn’t reliable ITK all the time but to illustrate this post is pretty good:

Last manager that got this level off trust to just shunt players out like this was Poch.

Conte & Jose did too it’s just they weren’t prepared to go younger so the overhaul was less drastic

It's very refreshing to see and long overdue.

It does feel like the floor of the squad is being raised substantially. The next step is adding that star quality, game changing signing like scum did with Rice.

That will be next summer. Primed for the 25/26 title charge in the post-Pep era.

He has just scored for Sunderland!
I know he had a long term injury last season but prior to that he looked the business in the Championship and looked like he was destined for a premiership move.

6m was absolutely nothing in today's game and even if he didn't live up to expectations we could have easily gotten our money back based on his championship form, English and young.

most clubs in world football would have triggered that buy back and simply loaned him out if they didn't need the player to a team that would start him and then get about 20m plus the next summer. Baffled why we didn't do it...especially considering we needed a back up LB.

I still wonder if we ever do go for a 100m star like that. If it happens it will be to replace Sonny imo

Leave off, this isn't backing the manager. Replacing expensive senior players on high wages with cheap youngsters is exactly what our owners want.

Backing the manager would be to do that then supplement with some top tier players with proven credible experience so it's going in the right direction but let's not get carried away.
