Seems very likely Skipp is going to Leicester, either permanently for a fee rumoured at £20m or on a loan with an option/obligation to buy at same figure.

Not totally surprised - Skipp picked up a nasty injury right at end of his Norwich loan and has struggled to get gametime since appearing to be less effective than he was at Norwich when he's played at Spurs. Sadly it happens to some players.

He's the only outfield player we have with much playing experience. so once he leaves under UEFA rules Spurs have only one Club Trained player (Austin 3rd GK) and with 3 Club trained players short our total UEFA squad size is reduced to 22 players - and not too many options to increase that recruiting former players who would be Club trained (including Walker-Peters, Edwards, Cirkin, Veljkovic et al) which I think likely.

In order to increase squad size I suspect Ange is more likely to give youngsters who qualify for List B (broadly 2 years at Spurs and under 21), so I now expect both Devine and Lankshear to stay with some playing time allocated to Moore and maybe a couple of others. Not the same as bringing in a more experienced player, but a pragmatic alternative.

And the hope/expectation is that a couple of those youngsters once they reach age 21 will be both experienced and good enough to be join the squad as 'Club Trained' players in say 2 years time such that Spurs can legitimately have more than 22 players in its uefa squad - perhaps even back to 25 players if 3 youngsters become club trained. So its seeing long term planning in action.

Question is what are the ambitions?

As a fan, I know mine are to see a once great club flip the script from being a "nearly" team to a serious competitor who is genuinely viewed as a contender and winner.

And before I get my wrist slapped that other fans aren't so spoilt, it's all about context and the willingness to improve. Not many other clubs have been on the cusp for so long without anything to show for it. In fact I can't think of a single other PL club.

I’m not really bothered by the money on any transfer.

I can definitely understand the plan behind signing him. If it was me I’d still go for MGW if we are spending big but it seems Ange has wanted a ball winner all summer. If it costs 60m to get the one he wants, we should do it,

Especially as we went from 50m on Neto to 25m on Odobert.

I’m not bothered by the money either i would happily us spend the money I’m just being realistic as the chances of us dropping £60m on Gomes are slim imo

I know he had a long term injury last season but prior to that he looked the business in the Championship and looked like he was destined for a premiership move.

6m was absolutely nothing in today's game and even if he didn't live up to expectations we could have easily gotten our money back based on his championship form, English and young.

most clubs in world football would have triggered that buy back and simply loaned him out if they didn't need the player to a team that would start him and then get about 20m plus the next summer. Baffled why we didn't do it...especially considering we needed a back up LB.
He’s Irish mate

6: Biss, Bentancur
8: Sarr, Gray, Devine
10: Maddison, Kulu, Bergvall

I still don't really get this apparent need for a Ramsey or Gomes type.
We've got enough 8's as it is.
I think we'd need to move on one of Biss or Bentancur for adding another CM to make sense but we haven't been seriously linked with any 6's.

Really? Has he thought this through?

That's such a ridiculous notion for a club of our size.

If you have the money and that £100m player could win you a title you should do it if you are actually in the business of trying to win things and be an elite club.

To say we will never do it like it's some principled stance makes no sense.
In the history of the game, how many 100m players have been a success and how many have been a waste of money?

If we are talking about backing the manager and whether Ange is a Levy yes man, we need to talk about the ruthless nature of this clear out.

I know POK isn’t reliable ITK all the time but to illustrate this post is pretty good:

Last manager that got this level off trust to just shunt players out like this was Poch.

That is because no other manager we had since Poch started and finished a season

Not sure about that. Soo many players outlived Jose, Nuno and Conte.
Mourinho let go of Eriksen, Rose, Wanyama, KWP , Vertonghen, Foyth, , Gazzaniga - these were all prominent squad players under Poch.

Sent Clarke & Sess out on loan in his first window.

He extended Dier and Alderweireld.

Nuno let go of Aurier, Alderweireld, Lamela, Sissoko Joe Hart.

Conte let Go of Dele and sent Gil, Lo Celso & N’Dombele away in the same window!

Then he got rid of Bergwijn, Winks, plus Doherty and Reguilon on loan(both Mourinho signings)

When Ange arrived, Lloris and Lucas were already leaving, so the Poch boys left were Kane (who Spurs fans can’t let go of), Dier, Sanchez and Davies. Only Davies remains.

A lot of the deadwood Ange is getting rid of are players we acquired after Poch left. 19-23 are wasted years to me.

Brentford have been trying to flog him for over a year
