No - but I said the club purchased them after he joined us last summer. Both those players were signed permanently last summer window and we starting paying fees for them then. It is about what we have spent not who he has personally signed.

Similar with Bergvall - the agreement was made on Feb 2nd 2024. But he signed permanently for us on 1st July 2024 - this window.

You cannot argue with the basic facts of when someone was signed (and when a fee needed to start being paid)

The fact is that we have signed players in deals worth nearly £400M since Postecoglou became our manager last year.

About 170 back. With a bit more due for Reg and Celso. Call it 200m.
Pretty good work really.
Whereas Woolwich have spent 700m in almost 5 yrs that Arteta has been there. Not that much more than 70m if that. Also paid off 6 high earners. Ozil, Auba etc.
Gomes of Wolves, midfield, is in our sights apparently.

Tbh I think it’s better to count players signed for the project not accounting quirks like loan to buy players from previous projects.

It’s just a more honest way to do it. Same for counting bonus payments before the bonuses have been triggered.

I also don’t trust 99% of the reported sums.

These days I’d say backing a manager is about how well the squad is constructed for the way they want to play.

Forget sums but Lenglet on loan and 21 year old Spence at RWB wasn’t backing a manager like Conte who plays 3 at the back with wing backs.

Ange is getting a squad built with players which suit him or will suit him as they develop.

Can see us getting a new CM in but not necessarily a 6.

Wonder if we'll see it through, get rid of Bissouma (and potentially Bentancur) next season and go huge on Wharton

100m net per year is the least we should be doing with all the FFP/PSR room we have, new stadium etc.

We have done very well on getting the dross and high wages out of the club since January. There was a lot of work to do cleaning up the terrible transfer decisions post 2018 and the anti-football era we've been through.

Once Gio, Reg and Solomon are out you look around the squad and no one jumps out as deadweight.
Davies is probably the only one who you wouldn't fancy having to rely on in big games but he will have a small role this season and be moved on next summer.

We are very well set up now to sprinkle in 1 or 2 elite talents rather than going into every window with the squad needing major surgery.
