I think the fact that the club are selling Skipp shows how much they are bothered about having a full complement of club trained in the euro squad. . Basically couldn’t care less. We don’t need to buy players just to sit on a bench. To suggest we might buy one of the above mentioned players just to fill a gap defies description.
Have a look at other clubs euro squads last season. They just fill the gaps with youngsters.

Quite the opposite.

Spurs know they need 25 or so players to compete in Europe as well as PL which is why Skipp (a CT player) has been kept on for last couple of years even though he's been a fringe player.

For the first time in a few years we have a few players coming through the youth system who look good enough to play a little this season (Lankshear, Moore likely Devine and even players like Abbott who played in pre-season) so Spurs can now afford to sell Skipp, and give his minutes to youngsters to help their development such that in a year or three those youngsters will be aged 21, decent players and fully Club trained.

So Skipp's sale is all part of a calculated move to ensure Spurs does get more Club Trained players in the near term future and hence be able to have a squad size of close to 25 under uefa rules. Without getting to that sort of size of squad of experienced players over the age of 21, the chances of winning EL or CL are remote. With more Club trained players we have a much better chance

Yep!
If we omit both Forster and Davies, we can sign one more. If we want to buy two players, we'd have to then omit yet another player.
We can’t leave out Davies (a defender) for a new mid. That will unbalance the squad. More likely to be Richie or Werner. Richie, Moore and Odobert can cover Werner backup spot at a stretch. Kulu, Son and Lankshear can cover Richie backup spot. My bet would be Richie

Ultimately you want to get to a point where every player in your squad is of the required level.

If we had to start Davies in a run of tough fixtures we would all be shitting it - so how reliable is he?

Dragusin is an example of a fine squad player, Davies is not.

In any case, it will be his last season with Vuskovic arriving next summer to cover CB.
Davies may be loyal but his pants. Keeping players like him for longer than necessary is why we are where we are. City jettison so many players Alvarez , Sterling etc for good money.

Almost always Hughes. Double pivot, 3 at the back, wing backs either side.

Whenever Hughes wasn't fit (rare) in they put Lerma in there. But it was rare

Today's Palace set up is practically identical to last seasons. Except they haven't got Olise being a magician. And the perennially average Mateta isn't in a purple patch anymore.
Mateta didn’t play I think?

So nothing credible in the Joao Gomes links? seems like it was all BS
I actually believe that we could have made an approach for him, but there’s no chance Wolves let him go for a reasonable fee after selling Neto. Unless Levy has been snorting coke all weekend and wants to just push the warchest all in, I doubt we’re going to afford him.

with skippy going and Holjberg gone I think we need another 6. we only have Bissouma and Bentacur, I’m not sure Gray is up to it yet.
I agree. Even if Gray is ready, we still need DM depth. It's not as if there are no question marks over Bissouma and Bentancur either.
Would love to see Bergvall develop into a DM long term though. I think he has the skillset.
But for season 24/25 we are vulnerable there.
