It’s a shit system though with glaring weaknesses. He has perfect CB’s for it and in Porro the perfect RB - yet we concede at an alarming rate

Admittedly the attack is awful in this system.

But do we get a manager who adapts the system to suit the players - as crazy as that sounds
Have we this season? 1 goal from a set piece against the scum, only time we've conceded more than one (obviously a small sample size) so far this season is Newcastle. I know you'll point to last season, we actually conceded less last year than Conte's final campaign, when we were playing all out defence. It was still too leaky of course, but I feel like we've already been wayyy less open this year (last night was definitely our worst performance in that regard IMO, probably due to the amount of rotation which I didn't like).

We have to remember that Ange was most likely 5th choice on Levy's list to replace Conte.......Alonso and Nagelsman said no, Tuchel went to Bayern, Levy refused to pay Slot's release clause. Should we be surprised with what is happening with a guy who came from one of tne top two in the SPL and doesn't have too much top level experience despite a long career?

Yes Levy can sack Ange but you have to wonder if anyone decent will want the job or the club is prepared to pay big in terms of release clause payout. Most likely Levy will go for someone out of work like Tuchel, Southgate or Potter.
Yes.

If this job has the reputation now of being a manager killer (and at this point, why would it not) who are we going to get? What up and comer would want to see their chance at the highest level blown by believing in Daniel Levy when past European champions and a host of others couldn't make it work?

Though I suppose Tuchel would have Werner on the next bus out of town!

Pre-pep, Klopp, Wenger on the decline, pre-Newcastle buy-out, pre-the kinds of money we are seeing now. Yes, he had it much easier - pleased you agree.
At the start maybe.
Chelsea were still a force and Woolwich finished 3rd and 2nd in Poch's first 2 seasons.
United hadn't totally declined to the current joke either.

Different competition at the time.

He should have won something with what he had thought. We were too good for 2 to 3 years to have finished with nothing.

yeah an attacking system should probably have....stay with me here, the righ attackers.

I think he'll be forced to tweak it if he wants to survive. There are changes he can make.

Players are also at fault. I don't think Ange is telling them to move the ball super slow and have no one run in behind. Don't give Solanke service. Maddening.

Odo injured and we're back to the exact same wide attacking players as last season, well perhaps even worse as Kulu is now a CM.

bit of a disastrous transfer window, but I hope mikey moore gets a chance on Thursday now and takes it

The way i see it, our best attacking players are Son, Solanke, Kulu and Madders. None of them excel in the wide areas.

Wish we could see that old Man City Pelligrini lineup 4-2-2-2. Son and Solanke up top. Kule/Madders behind. Let our fullbacks provide the width. At least, i think that's the best way to get something out of our personal.

I imagine hitmen are quite cheap on Merseyside

problem easy to see, the coach responsible for collecting these data analytics will have already relayed this info , it's not so much the possession, it's that the possession is in the opponents half. they're being penned in for the majoirty of the game but then we are clueless with it, passing it from left to right trying to find a cross, pull them out of shape etc.

it's gonna work against dead teams, but more elite defences i'd like to see them just shoot more, espeically Son, Kulu and maddison.
Sarr tried it a couple of times last night but he's not right for it, a shot could deflect, result in a goalkeeper howler, be a wonder striker, get spilled in the path of solanke etc etc.
we need to add this

i''m still calm about it, the last 2 stats can be dramatically improved with small tweaks

We’ve conceded enough to have only won once. Sure we could score more and should have but which goal this season have we conceded that was unstoppable? 3 brain farts from Romero and an avoidable Harvey Barnes goal.

If Coventry could finish we would have conceded 3 or 4 last night, it reminded me greatly of the Fulham away game in the league

It’s chicken and egg though

We don’t have the right attackers for the system - change the faaacking system until we do have the right attackers.

You can’t play these players in the wrong system or you get what we have at the moment.

So again, it comes down to his stubborn refusal to adapt and Levy’s inability to give managers what they need. Levy will get his when the TW is open, but for now Ange is perfectly capable of changing the system - but he is a stubborn guy

Shoot more!!!

We had 15 shots against Leicester
16 against Everton
A ridiculous 20 away to Newcastle
15 at Home to Woolwich

We’re averaging 16 shots a game - Porro has about half of these. But we’re taking pot shots from shiete angles and distances. Despite our numerous shots, our XG stat is bang average, which tells you how speculative these shots are

Ange only has one system and it doesn't work with our players. Either he becomes a little more flexible which I doubt or he has to go...we seem to be going backwards...

If we don't win against Brentford I think he's done for. Unlikely to get anything at ManU or at Brighton. Can't go into the international break with only 1 win in the league, and that against Everton.

No. They are choosing the last 75% of a 100% sample size because the first 25% has a lot less weight. It is obvious that teams adjusted to us after that surprisingly great start and the myriad of concerning stats confirm this e.g. We kept 4 clean sheets in our 1st 10 league games and then 4 in our next 32.

You can’t point to anything actually tangible in your backing of Ange, apart from the fact you hated Jose and Conte and that you just don’t want to sack him. Nobody WANTS to sack him but many people are responding to the facts of our form and a team that is continually struggling to defend whilst looking increasingly more impotent in the final 3rd.

It's very worrying and how ppl like yourselves don't share (at least) some of that concern is absolutely baffling (if it's actually genuine....)
Sure keep making up rationale that suits your needs. We also had massive injury issues in the second 25% (post Chelsea disaster). Maybe that should have less weight. See how that works?

I also stated I’m not fully onboard ange. I just think it’s way too early to make a move.

Add Ange to the long list of managers who don't have the players he needs to play the system he wants. Very frustrating
I’m starting to think it’s the system rather than the players.

I think it’s too simplistic for a top league, too easily worked out and negated. The refusal to adapt is also shooting ourselves in the foot making it too one dimensional which further makes it easier to nullify.

I will say some thing that annoys me the most and he doesn't seems to notice.

Son and Johnson as wingers. They are not meant for that role when we play a possession football like we play, we need players with flair, like Odobert or even Kulusevski, that can beat a man on his own, have good control and good passing.

Fullbacks playing in midfield. WTF is that? Ok, I can consider this thing, but all the time the midfield is congested with players that weren't meant to be there and offers fucking nothing, most of the time.

Maddison dropping too deep to receive the ball. While our fullback are playing in the 10 role, Maddison is playing between the centre-back most of the time, why? We have other players that can do that in Bissouma or Bentancur and if Maddison drops too deep we lose our most creative player upfront.

The fucking high line. We don't give a fuck about defending and even with some of the best defenders in the world we keep conceding every fucking game, we keep on being countered time and time again and there's nothing we can do.
Hey. Angeball means everyone gets to play out of position. It’s the new thing!!!
