Rudiger, Saliba (I know, I know but facts is facts), VVD, Stones, Araujo, Dias, Gvardiol, Konate, Militao, Marquinhos.

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣so you would be happy with most them over Romero???

Do you watch these other guys play? You think they are flawless defenders?

Gvardiol🤣🤣 he hardly plays centre back now.
Militao gets done in behind him far too much
Marquinhos can’t run and is a rash as fuck and can’t pass the ball
VVD is top notch
Not having Stones as a great defender but can play
Dias is very good but not better than Romero
Araujo is another rash defender but he’s very good
Konate is a monster but mistake waiting to happen

Can’t believe any of our fans don’t think Cuti is world class and one of the best centre backs in the world.
Sometimes I wonder about our suppprters.

It’s a mentality instead of objectivity. If he played for a different team they’d rate him much higher.

I do watch those guys based in La Liga and they’d all struggle in the Prem. Even Rudiger might struggle week in week out in the Prem.

Until proven otherwise VVD is #1 but Romero is comfortably #2 imo. Living in Spain I like using Spanish commentators and pundits s as my barometer because they are impartial and see the game very different to English pundits.

The two biggest discrepancies are Cuti and Maddison. They absolutely love those 2 over here.

Correct mate. There’s some don’t appreciate what we have. Most fans of every other club in the world would want Romero as their centre back.

These are generally the same people who will be posting through angry tears if Levy lets him go to Madrid in the summer.

They like being contrary and 'edgy'.

Romero and VDV are a beautiful partnership and long may it continue.

We had Jan and Toby who I thought were incredible together but these two are more exciting because of how they play. If they can get to Jan and Toby levels of consistency then we will be successful. What can hinder them is how we play because they do get get countered more.

My two favourite Tottenham players are those two because when Romero is crashing into a tackle and Mickey is in full flow making a quick striker look like a slug it gets me off my seat.

This is a lazy take really based on reputations and nothing else because I don't know what you see in half of these CB's that make them out and out better than Romero.

Romero is coming off the back of 3 uncharacteristic brain farts which directly cost us but he's generally been very good this season, pure ability wise he's as good as anyone on the planet.

Just because he is not in top 10 doesn't mean he is not good. In terms of ability and talent, he is one of the top. But like I always mentioned.... a CB needs to have his head straight but he commits the dumbest fouls sometimes that cost us games. If he can do that for the whole season then he should be def top 10.

How many dumb fouls cost us last season and this season so far?

Did you already forget the Chelsea game that led to our downfall last season?
His ejection led to a chain reaction where VdV got injured and shit went to hell.
There was also many instances he got lucky (That time he pulled Cucurella's hair, and brash tackles)

He just needs to have a cool mind, no ones doubting his skills. He sometimes seems to riled up at times.

So 1 game then........ IF one believes the "chain reaction" bollocks.

But the point was this:

Based on this season showings in EPL Romero is out of TOP10 CBs and Mickey is in top3. Though sample size is not too big as of yet.

So why are we going back to last season just to prove a point and then going back to a previous season about Cucurella? What does this have to do with now?

And in any case Araujo is in your list with worst disciplinary record than him since that time so I'm not sure what we're doing here?

Also you're forgetting that this guy has won the Copa America back to back with a World Cup sandwiched in between being the lynchpin of the defence over the 3 tournaments, if anyone else did that we'd be hailing him as a top 10 CB easily but since he's a Spurs player people want to pick holes in his game and over scrutinise him, it's weird.

It gets tough trying to split hairs about who is the 'best' in a complex grading system with tons of variables and context. Without a doubt Cuti and VdV are top15 CBs in the world- and they are probably top 10 if not top 8(?) or maybe even higher.

Our CBs are fucking awesome- let's all just agree to be happy about that for once.

Had a horrible game against the Germans. Superbly talented player but still has a few fundamental defending skills to build on and complement his pace - his positioning and decision-making under defensive pressure weren't great.

Should be much more of an aerial presence at his height too.

I noticed in his interview this week he said Kudus "punched" him. And earlier he had to correct himself after he said he had punched Kudus.

For those wondering about this, the Dutch word rammen means both to punch and to push. Similarly for stompen and hengsten apparently. Must be confusing for the Dutch; how did Regilio Tuur ever manage to become world champion?
