Real question - what do you think would change if the Qataris were to buy a minority stake in Spurs? One of the most intriguing things will be the thoughts and views of Airfixx if Levy secures major Qatari investment in to the club....
It'll be absolutely fascinating.
Change in the boardroom, fresh ideas. We've had the same bunch of nodding dogs for decades. They're absurdly stale and need a kick up the arse. The investment in us is not Braga. No one is spending £600m/£700m to have no say and be happy with us finishing 6th to 9th. I dont expect some instant reward but its the start of change that we've need for at least 6 or 7 years.Real question - what do you think would change if the Qataris were to buy a minority stake in Spurs?
They bought a 22% stake in Braga who are 6th in Portugal. Before the Qatari investment they typically finished 3rd or 4th and since the Qatari investment they've finished 4th, 3rd, 4th.
I also think there's only a small stake available. Lewis can only sell about 9% of the club without losing full control, and I doubt Levy is selling anything. Possible that Lewis will sell more, as long as ENIC retains majority control, but that opens him up to be snaked by Levy throwing in with the other minority investors. I feel it's unlikely that would happen, but equally unlikely that Lewis would risk it.
I think QSI would buy a minority share for the right of first refusal on any players we develop that PSG desires and use us as a place to park some players/debt to stay on the right side of FFP. Can't see it being a benefit to us, honestly.
I don't think the investment would be anywhere near £600M.Change in the boardroom, fresh ideas. We've had the same bunch of nodding dogs for decades. You'd hope that once any consortium get their foot in the door they would seize the opportunity to push on for a full takeover.Change in the boardroom, fresh ideas. PSG are a busted flush since the super league collapsed. A winner in a one team league with no realistic chance of a champions league anytime soon. As for motives i dont know but i do know we need change. We cant carry on as we have been over the last 6 years. The prem gets more competitive year on year and we carry on as we are even 4th place will start to become a pipe dream.I don't think the investment would be anywhere near £600M.
If you take the most recent Forbes value of £2.6B, the 9% Lewis can sell without losing sole control is £234M. Even if you assume they'll sell 20% (far more than I would expect) it's £520M.
I also think you're misinterpreting their motives, they aren't buying a minority stake in another football club as a charitable endeavor - can't imagine they give a damn where we finish in the table truthfully. They're the primary owners of PSG - that's the capstone of their football group, and every investment will be in service of PSG winning the CL. Investment in other clubs is a means to an end, a way to extract some competitive advantage for PSG.
I don’t care what people think, I fucking love Hercules. Here comes our man....wait for it. Shameless as always!

riley FTL: Allegedly 12.5% £700m done last week. Qatari money

from crowny on simb: Money from Qatar via Staveley seems fairly nailed on now. Circa £600 million for 12.5%. Levy’s exit is coming - if no doubt protracted over a few years.

Very close now. Have to be careful with what I say. But exciting times. They have different views on who they see can lead us in n the pitch
I am hoping the major difference is I get to pay for my season ticket in Qatari Riyals. Think it will hurt less getting ripped off in a currency where I have no idea of the value it representsReal question - what do you think would change if the Qataris were to buy a minority stake in Spurs?

Tbf, there’s a lot of smoke with this now. Levy has openly stated they are looking for a minority investor. The bride of Wildenstein has been sniffing hard according to various media. It’s never her money, always from Arabs.

‘Staveley reportedly wants Howe to replace Postacoglu should Spurs form continue to stutter’Be careful what you wish for. Getting another interfering owner in football affairs. Whilst the decision to sack Managers has been taken by Levy it was at a time when the results were bad and fans unhappy. However wanting her own man as Manager is more in line with the appointment of Hoddle when ENIC arrived. Is the change of Manager a condition of the investment or will it be a power battle with Levy.
No idea if the Daily Mail are right regarding her intentions but a minority shareholder should have no say in football matters.
