I think that it comes down to seniority to some degree. Sonny, Romero and Maddison are older players (as weird as it is calling a 26 year old Romero old). Vicario too if we factor him in as the apparenty first reserve in that troika.

But you can just feel that the moment one of the existing captains move on or fall out of favour Dejan is brute forcing his way into the discussion. He's already forcing the Swedish national team coach to make a difficult decision in a few weeks.
 
Sorry but what am I missing? He’s scored 2 goals and 1 assist this season and he’s been invisible for most of them. Now he’s the second coming of Messi or something im hearing now and usual suspects are wetting their knickers because of one west ham game.

Do you actually watch the games?
 
Deki has moved to the modric/dembele style of impact. While he does score and assist, his influence lies behind the primary assist or goal. The "hockey" assist, so to speak.

That and helping the transition of the team from defence to attack, and breaking teams down when they park the bus.

I suppose it might be too much to ask of some fans to actually watch games.
