We were collectively too crap for him to get a foothold...... Easily shut down, but not due to anything he did wrong.

Felt for him tbh.
Looked like Udogie and him had never stepped on a training pitch together. Seemed to be no understanding between the two.

Wouldn’t have been the game I would have handed him a debut.
(Palace, although without a win, are a very decent team on paper).

Selhurst is always a pain in the arse...... Narrow pitch, rowdy fans and CP never shy of putting a foot in. Tough place for a newbie to make an impression if the regulars are stinking.

Thought it was a crap decision to start him today before the game tbh. He's class, but an away game in our utterly unserious team is not the place to drop a 17 year old in his first PL start.

Bit tough evening and retrospectively not maybe best choice for a first start, but it is what it is.

Really loved the two passes which were played forward SO quickly. One turned into our best chance of the game too with Henderson pulling decent save from it.

But yea in a game where we struggle for the control and ball moves at too slow pace really (which lets opposition defenses to be ready almost always), it is a tough game for a winger. There will be better days for him surely.

Despite season still being quite young, it is nice to see him already getting a chance in 7 appearances and total of 266 minutes of senior competitive football.

Yep. I was astonished he was pick to start. Werner hasn’t been great but he has experience on his side. I would have started him. Ange said he had lost confidence and then starts a 17 year old ahead of him. It’s not smart. I wonder if guardiola ever started a 17 year old Foden in a match away at Palace or similar? I bet he didn’t. It is obvious Moore will be a good player but he’s got to play in the right games.

Foden first home Prem start at 18Y 10M 6D against Cardiff (2-0 win).
Foden first away Prem start at 19Y 6M 18D against Woolwich (3-0 win).

I wouldnt have played him against palace either away from home

But son injured, Odobert not fit enough to go up against the physicality of palace, and Werner in the worst form of his life . MM was no doubt on an almighty high after Thursday so I can see the reasoning for it

Goode experience for him, AZ are a nice gentle team. Sunday was a good taste of what you get away from home at most prem grounds. Massive physical battles , little time to dilly dally on the ball and its so much harder to beat 1 player with a dribble let alone 2

Said it after the AZ game bench 60mins every game. Developed the player not please the fans. I think Ange decision making seems highly suspect. Very little calm logic.
Honestly it seemed more like desperation now looking back at it. But why? Would have been much better to start Werner and save Moore for the end to run at tired legs. Ange just really doesn’t seem to think any of this through, does he?

Udogie was terrible and didn't help him at all.

With Moore on the left you need to get him the ball as quickly as possible to let him go at the rb and usually he will get a ball into the box or slip a nice through ball in.

Udogie just dawdles and seemed hesitant to release him.

Aside from that you could see a bit of a physical mismatch which is to be expected. CP are a team full of beasts so one of the tougher environments he could have been dropped into.

Fuck sake, the narrative to have a pop at the manager is funny. It was the right decision to play him because Werner and Richarlison are utter dogshit footballers.

He’ll learn an awful lot from that game and realise that it’s not all big spaces to run at players like it is at home. He didn’t have a bad game but obviously never affected it too much either. He got tired but that’s to be expected as he played the full game on Thursday. Madders was feeding him it as much as possible in the first half and I liked that. Those two were the only ones on the day who looked like they could control and pass the ball.

When Mikey starts at places that there isn’t as much space then he’ll be better equipped now. That’s why yesterday was I candle his development.

Ok,Ange doesn’t think it through 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Desperation? That’s your opinion but I do not see it that way at all. I was glad he started and yesterday was a massive learning curve for him. Fuck playing Werner. He’s fucking shit. Why should he ever get near our starting 11? Anyone who wants him in the team before a kid who’s ready to play has no idea. He’s 17 and needs thrown in. I definitely don’t want to see a very poor player who has been on a downward spiral for years now who plays like a 12 year old getting any time before him.

I didn't think he was bad at all considering the hostile atmosphere, the fact that it was his first start and that everyone else was awful.

In hindsight it probably wasn't the best game to start him but considering his performance against Alkmaar and Son being unavailable you can see why he did.

It's a classic case of damned if you do, damned if you don't for the manager tbh. If he starts werner who has been stinking the place out all season, then it's why didn't he start Moore he was amazing on Thursday? Give the kid experience!

He starts Moore, in a tough place to go, because Werner has been stinking it out all season which is what a lot of people have been clamouring for, and it's he's not ready! He shouldn't have started! Some people, usually the same crowd, will just bitch whatever happens.

It's a good experience for the kid, and he seems to have a decent enough head on his shoulders that he'll learn something from it.

I mean laugh if you want but we lost anyways. It’s not like you have some crystal ball and know what all other possible outcomes would have been. You don’t- you’re just having a laugh with your jolly old self cause you hate Werner, and hating our players apparently fills you with some sort of sardonic glee.

I write posts constantly about Anges suboptimal choices in rotation and selections. Sometimes you have to play the squad you have even if you don’t think some players are especially great. I think Moore would have been more effective coming in as a sub yesterday.

I don’t hate some of our players,I just don’t understand why a club our size continually has players in and around the squad for far too long that are nowhere near the levels needed to improve. I’ll rattle off a few and see if you disagree,Sessegnon,Skipp,Richarlison,Werner,Royal,Sanchez,Dier,Reguilon,Ndombele.

You say I hate them but why should I accept players that struggle to do the basics while getting paid crazy money. Will I fuck accept that. I’ve seen incredible players at this club that have been a pleasure to watch so when I see guys like Mikey Moore it does excite me because I know he’ll be someone I’m glad to spend my money on to watch.
Not the ones I mentioned earlier.
