I always find this one funny. Before Ange came in Celtic had won, what, 9 out of the previous 10 titles? Celtic have the biggest budget by a wide margin over everyone including Rangers. They are utterly dominant other than a single blip of a season. Shambles is an overstatement.
Sure, it's a pressurised job but winning trophies with Celtic is never an indicator of an elite manager.
Pick a side numbnuts! The most painful bit of all of this season is after every game, if we win its full of “see, you gooners, he can beat anyone he’s great and you’re all not true fans for doubting him” and if we lose its doom and the end of the world.
Without realising that you can be a fan who has massive doubts over the managers long term quality and suitability but still enjoy watching your team win.
Or, that you can think that the manager is good for us long term but also hate some performances and the way we’re set up.
It is possible to do both, this dick measuring between in and out crowds is fucking tiresome.
The football Celtic and Yokohama and the Australian national team played call it what you like 'Angeball' would be exposed exactly as this iteration of Postecoglou's Tottenham is being. It has never been exposed to this level of attrition or intensity. It will not yeld success against the elite level examination it's getting. Tournament 8 game football, the SPL, A league and J League are not the EPL. 20 years of watching it must make you even better qualified to see just how diffrent these tests are.
I find the desperate clinging to this narrative yeah was the same in another hemisphere of soccer so it's going to come right here in the league with ridiculous levels of international depth through out it( something no league he has EVER worked in had ) crazy. With the players we have playing the identical football Celtic did we'd get beat up worse. And if anyone wants proof go watch the games of those Celtic sides in Europe.
Ok but I think 9 consecutive titles in the previous 10 years, and Brendan Rogers cleaning up since Ange left is even bigger context. Especially given the state Rangers are in.There is context. The season before he arrived, Celtic finished second, twenty five points behind Rangers. Celtic finishing second is finishing last at the best of times, but by 25 points, it is a catastrophe. He then won the league in his first season by 4 points. That's a 29 point turnaround in a season with a team that he was still building.
As has been said, the manager needs to make the team better than the sum of its parts. He did that- and then some- at Celtic.
The man knows to how to manage, whether that will result in trophies at Tottenham remains to be season.

I just don't think his time at Celtic really tells us anything useful. The only thing that's going to matter is how he does here.

in their interest to pay for info haha
Last 10 games won 8.
Won 8 games in our last 10, including beating the best team in England, and yet the p and p's still want to sack the manager?
The underlying numbers are also instructive. There is a lot to indicate that Celtic season 2 was unusually dominant in the context of previous Celtic sides, especially when looking at xG differential. It got to the point where the xG difference was so great that even when you factored in bad luck, poor finishing, opposition keepers playing a blinder and other forms of variance, Celtic were so dominant that none of that rarely mattered. My Dad is a Celtic fan. He swears to this day that Postecoglous Celtic was the best Celtic team he'd ever seen live in terms of the way they were coached and played football.
When you're a team that dominates your league, you can only really go off coaching as a barometer as opposed to honours.
It's what separates the Postecoglous from the Neil Lennons. Their ability to actually coach, the implementing of a system and getting your players to not only buy into it, but play it to perfection.
As we know, most guys can go to the Scottish League, manage one of the two top teams and win things. But it's how you do it in which you'll be remembered.
Agree- we need league points BADLY- still- and our league record is still pretty bad- ESPECIALLY against our rivals. Ange still has a lot of work to do just to get to where Poch was.We are 8th in the league having lost as many as we have won and already lost to our biggest rivals. Behind Forest, Villa and Brighton.
No matter how many times you post contextless shit like this and include the wins against fodder.
The best team in England didn’t play the majority of the players which make them the best team in England. It’s the league cup.

WEAK
Absolutely agree here. Completely rebuilt the Brisbane Roar squad almost single handedly including flying to Europe and driving for hours to talk with players like Broich personally to get them to come. Rode the early bumps then when it all clicked the side was amazing and relentless and when he left, the club overall from players, to culture and all things he instilled were better for it. Repeated the dose in Melbourne, did the same at FC Marinos and arrived at Celtic in an absolute shambles and left them infinitely better when he departed.Only the first part is true- he has never managed at this level.
South Melbourne, Brisbane and Yokohama did not give him access to the best players in the league. As for Celtic, the club was a shambles when he came in and he re-built it, mainly on the back of 3 Japanese lads he brought with him, only one of which gets selected for the Japanese national team meaning they're not the best in Japan let alone the SPL.
I've watched his career over the last 20 years. I've said it before but this Tottenham team is not playing the type of football I know as Angeball-even the Socceroos did it better at the WC.

Interesting how it’s all about the cold hard clinical facts and nothing else when it comes to sitting 8th this season, yet when presented with the fact that we finished 5th last season and a point outside the top 4, there was endless ‘context’ about how that was only due to the good start, how we’d lost this many out of that many games, the composition of those points, i.e. who they were gained against, etc.Yeah I know mate, dissecting your ‘facts’ and presenting the actual facts (we are 8th, if the 8 wins out of 10 was anywhere near as good as you make it sound, we wouldn’t be) really is hilarious.
8th place. 2 points ahead of the side who just sacked their coach. 2 points ahead of West Ham and 14th place.
League cup and EL wins won’t hide that reality no matter how many times you try to make it do so.
