Too late - the armchair experts with seasons of experience watching PL games and reading forums have spokenBut i dont think he has been some sort of rasiak/postiga hybrid and he has shown that he can be a class player and i think he will be if we actually stick with him.

i agree with sammy that considering we spent 26 mi on a guy supposedly in his prime he has been very dissapointing.
Just about everyone here shares that opinioni agree with sammy that considering we spent 26 mi on a guy supposedly in his prime he has been very dissapointing. I'd say you're agreeing with almost everyone jamie not just sammy.
I think price is largely irrelevant here, mate - that is what we were willing to pay at the time and does not, in my opinion always represent 'true' player value. I think Soldado is a 17-19m player at best.I agree with Sammy when he says that for 26 mil Soldado has been dissapointing but I disagree with his views on just how bad he has been and whether he shoUld be dropped or not.

if the gooners had signed him, he'd probably be firing on all cylinders...

I agree that prices do get inflated and very often dont show the true value of a player but if you are spending as much as 26 mil on a player you would expect them to do better than soldado has. I agree he is probably a 15 million pound player but if i'm being honest I dont think he has performed to that standard up til now. I am confident he will do given time thoughI think price is largely irrelevant here, mate - that is what we were willing to pay at the time and does not, in my opinion always represent 'true' player value. I think Soldado is a 17-19m player at best.
For example - we sold Berbatov for 31m because he was 'worth' that to us at the time while in reality he was a 20-22m player at best. Same with these players joining the riche-nouvau clubs - i.e. Pastore for 40m, etc.
If I'm being honest I often think sammy makes good points and people seem to dismiss his opinion so he tries harder to get that point across and comes across as a bit aggressive. Thats not directed at yourself just in generalMy point exactly, but apparently because I posted some stats about him having a high number of shots inside the box I'm a Soldado evangelist now.
But he's still the same player? If he cost 4M, Id have had no expectations. Just like if Liverpool paid 4M for Andy Carroll, no one would have laughed
But he's still the same player?
He should be analysed on how he's performing - not how much he cost
Speaking of goons - Giroud was also pants in his first season - let's be patient, lads
