You're right

You're wasting time with the village idiot

Sharp as a marble that one

Not sure that this is the place to discus Ange’s future but others are. Ange has got a very young squad and young players are inconsistent and do not have the experience to cope with set backs during the game which we have seen. However it does not seem right to suggest he should be replaced after the great result against MC and having a 100% record in the Europa. That suggests we are on the right path and can produce good results and hopefully reduce the inconsistencies in time.
It has rarely gone well changing Managers in mid season and whilst our league position is poor we are not far behind and Ange’s position should not be reviewed until much later in the season and only if he fails in the cups and we remain out of the European spots.

And this is a good and balanced post.

It presumes progress a bit too easily however. City just lost a match more important to them against a Bournemouth, who are easily as impressive as we have looked.

It's okay to talk young squad but it presumes too much at times.

Not losing today, if we can't win would be okay for starters

Villa probably will do a low block and hit on the counter. This could cause us problems without VDV pace.

We need Madds and Kulu to unpick a low block, even though Kulu has played a lot of mins recently.

Son isn’t great against a low block so would be tempted to put either Odobert or Moore on the left. Bring Son on as a sub.

No fcukng Moore to start in the PL for now. That should be blindingly obvious.

Who cares what happened in 2023 or 1943?
Everyone has 20/20 vision in hindsight.
What the fuck do I care about last season's results and what relevance does it have to a match day thread?
New season, new players, new positions & new tactics.
If you want to be an Ange-basher, then there are plenty of other threads for you to voice your negativity.

Why does the season start in November?

Also, Aston Villa finished a mighty 2 points clear of us, did they also have an abysmal season?

We finished as the 5th best side in the country but all your interested in is our form from November conveniently forgetting the good run of form at the beginning of the season which for some reason doesn't count in some fans view

I'm not really sure what people are expecting. We lost our greatest ever goalscorer, finished 8th the previous year, integrated 3 new players into the back five. Reduced our average age from being one of the oldest to one of the youngest whilst having to totally transform the system from negative low block football to a high energy, high pressing machine.

And STILL finished higher than the previous year and scored more goals. And got more points.

On top of that, we suffered more injuries than any other team last season and lost key players throughout the season.

Van de Ven missed 11 games
Maddison missed 10 games
Bissouma missed 10 games
Richarlison missed 9 games
Romero missed 5 games
Udogie missed 11 games

That's on top of having, at the time, depth that wasn't suited to the system. Having to rely on Dier and Emerson for centre back depth. Having to play Lo Celso, Hojbjerg or Skipp in midfield. Sometimes even Skipp at left back.

Quite frankly, it was miracle we even managed to finish 5th.

Win today and it's 9 wins from the last 11.

And we're in the quarters of the league cup.

:ange-arms:

Swap rich out for son and that is a string line up.
Solanke? I just feel we are too inconsistent and an extra centre back will help, especially an aggressive lump like Drag. Could free up the other two to roam at times and tbh that’s Romero biggest asset (attacking and play on the ball rather than defending!)
