Can't believe he got played out of position at LB rather than Porro- I'd have expected the veteran player to have been able to more capably pull that off- but fair play to Gray he played well and wasn't really at fault for any of their goals I thought.

I'm really eager to see him start at CDM- he seems to have everything we'd need and want there.
 
Takes some serious talent to play that ball to Johnson for our first goal. It's not just spotting the run, it's the technical ability to time, place and weigh it just right. Fantastic stuff.

But playing the kid at RB or LB is criminal. Fuck sake, Ange.

I think it’s a case of just get him some minutes where we can and we are short of full backs with Spence out.
 
He's clearly got huge potential with the ball. My issue is not with that. The problem is the role of full back requires a certain skillset off the ball and athleticism that simply he isn't suited to. I think he's being hung out to dry there. I'll keep saying it until it happens fucking put him in midfield it will do more for his confidence playing there than playing full back and getting skinned everytime.
 
Where the fuck are the constant rumors about him leaving in January on loan are coming from?!?

I mean we are through like roughly 1/4 of the season regards of games played. Archie has got 581 minutes. So across whole season this would be 2300 minutes of football... In Europa League, EPL and cups. For 18 yo kid. That is quite a freaking lot.

Ok there are more decisive games in 2nd part of season and all..so maybe like 2000 minutes? That's still significant. That is lot more than prime aged players like Royal and Hjojberg got last season ffs.

If anything we should get reinforcements for fullback position, promote Archie to midfield.

I think it's quite obvious he'll end up at CDM, but for now, he's not replacing Sarr or Bentancur ATM...

Let's see if that changes when Bentancur gets his inevitable ban...
I can see a midfield 3 combo of 2 from Sarr, Gray/Bissouma and either Kulu/Maddison getting plenty of opportunities!

Its clear hes a big lad much more in the mold of CB CDM ST central type roles rather than the smaller nimble types with more acceleration that play out wide.

Its fine hes getting minutes at FB but certainly hes not quite the ideal attributes you would want in that position. I'm not worried about him- I just understand that he'll look a better natural fit at CB and CDM.

I've not seen any; but I'd happily bet they're all posted by dick-head wannabes on Twitter that are best ignored/blocked/fed to rabid monkeys............

And if he's going to play CDM, he's going to have to drop in and cover for the marauding wingbacks often, much less VDV's runs. He's going to have to be comfortable playing in these positions - better to get some time to focus on getting comfortable while he can.

That Bentancur ban is a joke. I don't condone what the lad did, that was poor, but he didn't mean no harm, it was just an ill-advised joke. Sonny understood. But now Rod is seen as a racist.

Even funnier is that Enzo friggin Fernandez, who knew exactly what he was doing, was never even questioned by the PL or nobody over his chanting of an openly racist song.

The irony for me is that even though he is being played out of position he still had a better game in my mind than half the players being played in there correct positions.
I think we have a very good player on our hands.
 
Surprised this thread is buried so far. I thought Bergvall would be signing of the season but Archie looks like such a stud. It's not just his natural talent but the calmness/maturity he has under pressure. Even the way he chirped back at Vic for yelling at him. We often talk about mentality in the team and I think Archie has it in spades. I see future captain material.
 
I think between Gray, Sarr and Bissouma we're gonna see all three of them evenly rotated over the next 7 games in CM.

Keeps Bentancur fresh for Europe I guess!
