Absolutely no doubt that Spurs are at their best when Bissouma and Maddison are running the show. This was evident first half of last season - and the opposite was true second half of last season.

If those two return to their elite form and maintain It - combined with Kulusevski's emergence as a genuine world class talent - we'll cook.
I believe the biggest contributor to how we moved forward well was the absence of Romero. No dilly dallying, no walking and pointing, and no passing backwards to Vic or VDV. This made us move the ball faster when required. Watch the game again and compare with when Romero plays

Great win on Saturday, following a dire showing against Ipswich. This bipolar team continues to spasm between the wondrous and the abominable.

As for Ange, let's see us put two good performances together in a row before we start collectively wanking him off. Fulham next - is anyone here confident of 3 points?

Good win on Saturday. Fucking dire performance against Ipswich. Concerning words mid-week from our best player and de facto captain about attitudes in training. Let's see Ange put two good performances together in a row before we start wanking him off. Fulham next week - is anyone confident of 3 points? I'll enjoy wins like Saturday's all day long but for my money he's still gone come the end of the season.
what do you actually expect ange to accomplish in one and a half years ? when he came in the club was in a huge mess 8th place on the table amd kane sold . realistically what do you expect from ange ,win the league ? changing the spurs losing culture is going to take time especially when working within the constraints of a budget which is less than our competitors .

Somehow he’s got to get these players winning 4 or 5 league games in a row. Some of the players obviously think others aren’t pulling their weight every game though going by this quote from DK:

The thing is, he has already this season to a certain extent.

We literally won 5/6 games on the bounce but alot of the comments were 'well it's only Coventry, a weak Man Utd, an average Brentford side etc etc'

This win backs up we are improving.

Saturdays result was, the best result of the season so far.
What we don't need is, the team resting on their laurel's like they have done before.
You would like to think, the team can get another 3 points this weekend but, as shown by the Ipswich result that's not always the case.
Really the team should be going on a 4/5 game winning run, so far this season has proved very inconsistent which has to improve.

We need it in the league though. I’m not talking about him proving people wrong, I’m ignoring that, I’m just talking about us improving our league position. We could easily be third with one more win for example. I know all teams can say this but we should really have 5 more points than we do. Now we need to pick them up in harder games. Mind you if somehow we beat Liverpool and Chelsea at home it is like a six point swing I guess.

We ran the game out strongly and the desire did not wain, unlike City who had their heads down in second half!
Really great fighting spirit, the young guns are really enthusiastic and that kind of mood is infectious.

What we don’t need is random fans like me, bitching about supporters who bitch when we inevitably lose (because it's a long season) that we lost because

A) it’s resting on laurels,
B) naive tactics
C) dressing room unrest
D) a manager out of his depth (you can't orchestrate a 0-4 win otherwise)
E) it's the coach not the players
F) Ange fanboi's

just a thought off a long run :ange-bored2:

Ange did something that I don’t remember another coach doing at City yesterday and I have been calling for someone to try for a few seasons. I’ve heard lots of pundits and reports call our performance “brilliant” but so far, I’ve not read anyone identify why it was brilliant, tactically, they’ve mostly just spouted the usual football geezer cliches.

Up until we took the lead, City were dominating the ball and pitch. Then we scored in the 13th minute. What normally happens then is we (or any away side at City) would normally then shell into a deep and desperate block and pray to get out our half a couple more times.

But from the 14th minute to the 53rd when we scored our 3rd, we actually had 54% of the ball, and were pressing them in middle/higher areas, it’s how we got the second goal.

I’ve given Ange stick for his selections recently, and I’m not giving him much credit for bringing in Bissouma yesterday, because I’m not sure if he would have played him if Bentancur hadn't been suspended, but bringing Maddison back and moving Sarr over to R8 (and pushing Kulusevski back up to RF) was a great call and was pivotal with us being able to actually have more possession in that period. Maddison was all over the place and constantly dropping deep and helping us play through City's press in deeper areas too (which admittedly wasn't as good as it would be with Rodri in it). For that middle chunk of game our midfield (with the right balance) was able to compete with theirs. This highlights the importance of both Bissouma and Maddison in that:

I think Ange deserves a lot of credit for the way we played yesterday from 13-60 minutes - that was as proactive as I've seen any team be (along with Klopp's best Liverpool) away at Guardiola's City and earned us 3 goals, and once 3-0 up we defended very well.

The team selections married the tactics and the resulting performance was outstanding. Certainly the best by any Spurs manager at ManC during the Guardiola era - even caveating with their current form dip.

Not having Johnson playing and having Kulusevski on the right, who is happy to put the hard work in, made us a lot stronger defensively. I’d go back to putting him on the right, he might not be the most effective for him there, but at the moment it will mdd as me the team stronger. But possibly only if Maddison also pulls his socks up.

He's spent 300m, so I expect more than losses to Ipswich and Palace pal.

Flat out lie. He's had more spent on players than 90% of teams in the league and plenty of the teams currently above us, including the team that's top.

I'd have more respect for you lot if you can out and said this sort of shit immediately after the Ipswich game. Radio silence though from the clappers after that one.

To be fair, given your posting history, nobody here needs your respect because it's worthless. Interesting that you've only posted ONCE about the brilliant performance on Saturday and even in that post you decided to follow it up with a barrage of negative crap.

There is NO chance, and I mean NO chance, you're a spurs fan. And I 100% mean that. Imagine wasting your life trolling on a spurs forum. Feel free to not post on here again, thanks.

No need to reply...blocked...etc etc.

On the 300 million, one of the best arguments for Ange is that huge chunks has been spent on kids. Gray, Odobert, Bergvall, Veliz and Vuskovic cost £100 million plus and don't kid yourself that Levy was letting him buy Gallagher and Neto on big wages for that money. Our wage bill is allegedly down to the same level as Villa and Newcastle, so really about 8th.

When it's an open game he's shown now he can go toe to toe with anyone. Now the question is can he figure out how to get results when it's an all out battle or when it's a narrow low block.

It’s a massive difference when we can fit both Kulu and Maddison in, and the one that drops out for me is Johnson.

I’ve no wish to criticise Johnson and not having a go at him, but there’s one of two things he does very well I.e arriving late to finish at the back post. It was great to see him have that purple patch a few weeks back.

However if I’m picking a team, Kulusevski makes it in ahead of Johnson every time for me as he just adds so much more to every aspect of our all round play.
