Match *** Tottenham Hotspur v Fulham Sunday 1st Dec 1:30 GMT ****

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

We are the highest goal scorer in the PL at 27 goals then liverpoo at 24.
I think that it's, (and our GD) is due directly to the fact that when we win, we FUCKING WIN WELL!

We've scored 4 goals in 4 different games now, and I'm sure we've won by 3 clear goals on at least 5 or 6 occasions... but all our defeats have only been by 1 goal.
So I guess when we lose, it doesn't dent the GD too much, but when we WIN, we vastly improve it most times!

#flat-trackbullies!

I believe I remember reading that in the double winning year over Easter we played Friday, Saturday, Monday, won all three matches including twice against Chelsea, and scored about 14 goals.
So it CAN be done!

And one of the team got married on the Sunday and the entire team went to the wedding.
Blimey, they don't make 'em like THAT any more...

I guess the equivalent today would be the entire team going out together on the Sunday...
...getting papped,
...getting slaughtered on Social media,
...and rocking up to the game the next day to 24hr rolling mass media hysteria pre and post-match!

Modern football IS broken!

So it CAN be done!

Haha don’t mean to be a killjoy but the pace of the modern game is ridiculous vs 2000’s let alone 1961! Players from the 90’s were far and unfit compared to the modern lean, sprinters

I guess they had other physical issues to deal with like broken toes, bruised ankles and concussion tbf!

Yes if I remember correctly they all wore their wedding suits for one game to get extra use out of them.

Oranges at half time were replaced by beers.

Those were the days!!

I think the bride was actually the sub too.

Judging by his avatar alone he’s clearly having a joke.

That never happened!!

Well I am hilarious. But in this case deadly serious.

Check out the scores for 31 March, 1 April and 3 April. 1960–61 Tottenham Hotspur F.C. season - Wikipedia
We only scored 12 goals over the three games though, not 14.

And the bit about the wedding I think I read about in a book called "The Double" by Ken Ferris.

:angeshock:

It just goes to show they played the equivalent of walking football back then.

Be great to see what those games were like compared to the modern day.

Gonna be a tough match, i know people hate this kind of stuff but Fulham has the best xG against in the entire league which would suggest they dont make it easy for attacking teams and dont make many defensive errors, which is something this Spurs teams preys upon.

They're also very good at keeping the ball, suggesting they can deal with our press better than most. Considering Craven cottage is the smallest pitch in the league thats quite impressive.

On the plus side, they're the only team in the league without a Set piece goal

Play Madders, drop Johnson and shift Kulu out wide like the city game for this one as think this game doesnt suit Johnson

1-1

Subs weren’t allowed at that time too .

I'm STILL not sure why the 3 day gap between Thursday-Sunday is perceived as being so different to Wednesday-Saturday...

I get the routine of what happens on any given day is off by a day, but in terms of tiredness/recovery, surely a 3 day gap is a 3 day gap, no?

...we often played 2 games in CONSECUTIVE days over Christmas in the good old,old days!

I knew I hadn't dreamt it ... I was AT the Palace game... Dire and dull and 0-0....

But played 24 HOURS after we beat Norwich!

TWENTY FOUR HOURS COUNCELLER!
👍......yep, i was at that game too..

Hope for the win but won't be easy. Will not be surprised if we lost, and would be angry. Will only be satisfied....ish, with a draw, if we are losing with 5 minutes to go.

If a 4th result was possible I would have included it.

Our players need to collectively want success.

FWIW Klopp used to play the same XI constantly....... And they used to run their nuts off.

And Greaves was well known for going out for a quick half at half time.

The intensity of the game now means all the players need to be incredible athletes, something that the players in 60's (and even more recently) were not needing to do.

Aye ; but they often had hangovers and the effects of a 20 a day habit ; to overcome out there on Saturday afternoons at 3 pm .

They also needed to be supreme «athletes « , in their own way .

Not to mention the ones in the. lower leagues that had to leave work ( more than likely of a physical nature ) ;early to get to the ground in time for kick-off .

Different times …..
