What a waste this all is. Levy, Ange, Spence.
What a pathetic cycle of mediocrity.
I don't trust Levy or Ange to figure out anything especially meaningful about players. I think someone genuinely personable like Redknapp would have figured out how to integrate Djed, but I guess it's a moot point now. Unbelievable waste of time and money by Levy at this point, we just need to move him on and ourselves move on to players our club can actually work with.
20million spent and countless expensive man-hours spent on him by top staff- all so Levy could cheap out an extra 20m he eventually spent 40m for on Porro. Levy- what a fucking waste of time you so eloquently proved your own cheap tactics to be.
I do know that Djed scored a nice goal and has looked defensively and physically on it whenever he's played, so, there's something there- just apparently not anything our club knows how to work with. It's probably on Djed, but there's also a chance it's not. And I think we all know there is something subtly weird going on right now at the club.
You really just have to try and enjoy it all as a fucked up reality TV show or something like that, if you can.
So basically we're going to run Porro into the ground.

I get having standards and on principle I agree with the concept of earning playing time on the training ground.
But I'd happily compromise and give Djed some minutes just so Pedro doesn't explode like a Lego structure dropped on the ground.

If Ange expects Spence to behave differently and has drawn a line in front of the other squad members he cannot simply play him if Spence has not met the minimum requirements.
The situation must be about attitude because he has the technique and physicality.

In January we should do what we should have done in the summer. Sell him for walker Peters who can play both sides and is club home grown. It would have sorted a lot of squad problems. Too smart for us though and isn’t a flashy name for the fans but solves a few problems.
Great, in different circumstances but right now we are playing with an exhausted Porro every possible minute who showed us on Sunday that it's catching up with him. It's not about rewarding Spence it's about protecting Porro, because of we don't we'll soon find out all about dire emergencies.
There is going to be a crossover point where a 70% committed Spence playing at 100% will be better overall than a 100% committed Porro playing at 30% because he's fucked.

I've seen no one stating that Djed would be best fullback or best LB or LWB or RB or RWB.
But we cannot keep playing Porro and Udogie with same intensity 2x per week like we have. This is so plainly obvious.
People are not calling Spence to outperform neither of starting fullbacks, but to give them some desperately needed rest. While being most likely downgrade to some extent. A temporary downgrade that people would accept in order to avoid situation where he would be only and long-term option when either of starting players get lengthy injury.

if you watch it he actually says that Djed has been super professional despite not playing, and that he trains hard and that he just needs to be ready to take his chance when it comes .

What Ange said is pretty brutal. If a player is training well and fit to play, but never selected, there’s only one judgment to be drawn. The manager must simply think he’s shit.
most likely, but that's the exact same conclusion as Conte, the club actively tried to get Genoa to sign him in the summer but they wouldn't shell out the 8 million and i think they offered 3 million or something silly so we just took him back.
I guess that's what the new contract was about, maintain his perceived value.

Crazy. Kid was signed as a club signing, but there was some real excitement around him. Conte didn't like nor want him, so he never played. Got shipped to Rennes then Genoa on loan as if no English team woulda been keen. Comes back, gets given a clean slate (though never heard nothing about him being difficult at Spurs), apparently wins Ange over, saves his ass vs Coventry...and he gets a new contract. But still, he doesn't play, we get told he ain't ready or similar...while CM kid Archie Gray who'd never played elite footy gets signed from Leeds for 40 mil and plays FB cover. And yeah Djed will likely be cut in the summer. Meanwhile, right now Porro is shot and Udogie is shit...still no Djed.
Make it make sense. Explain it to me as if I'm 6yo. Then do likewise to the exciting English talents in the Champo who are being considered by Spurs, tell them how it's the move to make to further their careers.
Man, I've been there. You turn up for training everyday, you look after your body so you're always in top shape, you give it all you've got, you do everything you gotta do to get a look in...you play hard, you listen to the coaches, you ask questions etc. Plus the guys playing every week are either tired, out of form or just garbage...but still you don't get picked. Even when the vast majority of your teammates (and some coaches) say you should and your captain goes speak with the gaffer about you...and it doesn't change. You talk to the boss yourself and he tells you that you ain't doing nothing wrong, just keep going and your time will come...but it never does...or he throws you on at 90+4. It's friggin frustrating, heart-breaking stuff.
I hope behind closed doors the kid is getting a proper explanation from Ange, cause if he serves him that same bullshit he did the Gold stooge, well poor lad.
Maybe in between 10 coughing fits, Ange could explain to us what his vision is and what his expectations are, for Djed and the rest. You know, instead of looking down on us and talking to us like we're mugs, hoping we'll keep swallowing his PR-prepped bullshit.
