Manager Ange Postecoglou

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

It was obvious in the summer it was worse
Yeah, it was. I guess the hope was Archie Gray would be playing midfield by now and would be on a similar level to Bissouma and Bentancur. Instead he's been used as a back up right back! Thats the big one really. Even losing Skipp depleted the squad. There is no guarantee that Bergval is any better than Skipp right now and he is the player we are turning to every game with bentancur out for 7 matches

its aggression that makes liverpool fairly entertaining. we play with two wide forwards who have about as much testosterone as a schoolgirl. i feel sorry for our midfield, unless its to solanke its a pass to some feeble wide player whos going to do fuck all. must be draining for them mentally and physically.

this guy has an absolute catalogue of errors that indicate hes sooo out of his depth and theres still morons saying give him time hahahaha. how can you be so fucking slow and oblivious to something so fucking obvious! they must be struggling in most things in life if they are this slow.
The fans who use a poor window to defend him were also beating their chest at how he has the final say on.....transfers.

I can only talk about my mates, so anecdotal, but most of them turned following his comments after last season’s City game. He’s a very strange fella. Reasonably confident that he’s an old school bully. Obviously hates anyone disagreeing with him.

Still think he’ll get a good reception on Sunday.

Name me a manager that isn't strange fella - yet to see one - at Spurs or anywhere for that matter.

Takes a special kind of ego to make it to the top of any profession, least of all to the top of the largest and most profitable sports profession on the planet.

Depends, battling point against Chelsea followed by 3 wins on the spin against a Championship standard Rangers, Championship bound Southampton and beating United in the cup - and the noise will die down again.

Liverpool will pump us, but there is a decent run of games after that. Forest away - we’ve beaten them in the Prem every game since they came back up, Wolves at home - bogey side in recent years but really shit this year, Newcastle at home - winnable. Then potentially a 2 legged cup semi and Tamworth in the FA cup.

It’s not the most daunting run
We should have conceded about five or six goals last night.

I just don’t see us winning games with this current approach.

Of course. With the players and behind closed doors.

But he has this brooding antagonism with the press and fans. He’s nowhere near good enough to get away with it. He’s not Ferguson.

He didn't have a wealth of choices. The captain ideally is going to be a player who gets close to 90 minutes a game and with rotation and a young squad that doesn't describe many players. Probably it would be Son, Romero, or Viccario and two of them are out. Maddison's playing time isn't consistent. Put another way, there would have been controversy if it wasn't your star player who has been on the team for so long.

Says a lot about the squad doesn’t it

By the way - we need a new captain. Where is he when the things get tough? Invisible.

The reason we all like Son so well, is at the same time the reason he is not skilled to be our captain..

This is one of my very big issues with Ange.

He should be an experienced coach. Who reckognizes good captain material.
But Son is the worst captain i've seen. From any sports. From any levels.
I do believe that he is respected and loved in dressing room. He has done so much good for the club. But he has not single cell of leadership in his body.

I cannot erase from my memory last season home NLD. I was specifically looking at how players reacted to the first half. I was trying to find at least ONE sign of some togetherness. To see anyone trying to fire up others. To regroup and keep fighting.

But there was absolutely nothing. Son head just sunk and he walked back to half way line totally on his own. Looking like a sad puppy. No interaction. No encouragement absolute zero.

And he still won't play him.

Admittedly Spence was out with injury for a while, but he's been back long enough and on the bench in enough matches to have had a shot.

Tbh that’s a couple of coaches now who don’t seem to fancy him. And he had a questionable past when we signed him.

Think he’s one of those where the fans have seen flashes and don’t understand why he isn’t playing but very quickly would understand if he played consistently.

For me this is 100% on Levy and not Ange. Not many managers in world football could cope with so many injuries and such a weak squad with European football. We need to spend 60% of revenue on salaries (we currently pay about 45%). That would give us 4 x £300k per week superstars on top of current squad. End Werner's loan. Sell Dragusin. Cancel Reguillon's contract. De-register Richarlison until properly fit (and then sell him). Buy 4 peak age superstars. Compete.
Dare to disagree re:blaming only Levy. Many teams outplaying us without fancy names in their lineup and that's main problem. Can happen once or twice, but if not odd win against City where Vic was in god mode - we would be almost 1PPG team

Sorry to dissapoint you but Ange isnt getting to May. The team is being booed off most weeks, they've started on Levy and we're 10th with Chelsea and Liverpool 2 of our next 3 league games. We've already hit the untenable phase.

No idea what Levy will do, quite probably cheap out again, but he acts when things get uncomfortable. Always has.
You are not disappointing me so don't worry about it. I welcome these discussions and debates. I'm having serious doubts about Ange myself as I thought we deserved to lose by 3 or 4 yesterday! I don't take sides in these things, all I want is what is best for the club and I'm starting to think we might have to move on from Ange.

But lets speak in facts and not opinion. Iraola and Frank are the two best options and both are currently in contract in the PL so will be very expensive to get mid season. Has Daniel Levy ever paid a fee for a manager before? That is what prevented us going for Arne slot remember? So I'd assume it is unlikely we bring either of them in before May when Levy knows he can probably get them for next to nothing in the Summer. Or does Levy go for a free agent like Potter? Massive gamble and can't see it. The alternative is we sack Ange and do the Ryan Mason thing again - does that sound likely?

So all 3 scenarios are highly unlikely which makes Ange getting this season very likely. What have I said here that is wrong? This is not opinion and I don't have a horse in this race. I'm just trying to stick to logic and not emotions.

There was a moment in the first half when the cameras went on the manager. And he was shaking his head. Rubbing his face aggressively. Swearing to himself etc... And it just really bothered me. Instead of performatively showing everyone just how above this performance you are.... If you're able to see so clearly what they're doing wrong, why dont you give them clear instructions from the touchline like every other manager does. You don't need to wait until half time when there's still 20 odd minutes left.

We're 11th in the form table since last November. Our recent form against the "lesser" sides has been utterly rancid. And we should have lost 4-0 last night - why would you think we're capable of achieving what you've written there?

One of my issues with Ange is how much he tows the company line. Said he was happy with summer transfer business and he would rather have two £50m players instead of one £100m player.
Part of the job requirements, mate. After Conte, the bald man can’t have anyone stepping out of line blabbering about investing like a top club. Besides, Ange has dozens of trophies won with£50k players so he probably believed it himself.
