I’ve just watched the replay. Strewth what a roller coaster. Wtf is Sara and Bisouma thinking with those penalties???? And if I recall correctly Dragusin had a lot to do with their opening goal by dropping off and losing his man. I must admit I was hoping Ange would have been more pragmatic at 2-0 up, but I knew he wouldn’t. It’s not looking good for him.
I still think we played well and with a bit of luck would have got the result. Also fuck me Chelsea cheated like no tomorrow to slow our transition with the faking of head injuries. The ref (or video ref) should’ve been pulling that up.
I agree that Chelsea got away with many subtle fouls, going over at the slightest of contact, disrupting the flow of the game etc, by fully exploiting the weakness and gullibility of Antony Taylor. As much as I dislike this kind of thing, Ange needs to get smart and make this a tactic too, as everyone else does it to their advantage.

Unfortunately the Aussie in him wouldn’t stomach our players ‘cheating’ but I get what you mean. Seriously though that shit needs to be policed out of the game. How about the foul against Micky when he just stood his ground and the Chelsea player ran into the back of him and then grabbed his head 🤦‍♂️

Lol. Do you really think football coaches have the time to be watching tapes and Live games of other players matches? Every spare minute is spent working on the players he has and looking at opponents.

They are provided with a scouting report from our scouting department. This will include in depth analysis on their style and ability.
he has more time than you think...

1) he said he doesn't do that much training sessions as he leaves it to his assistant
2) he doesn't "socialise" with players & keeps a distance
3) he doesn't do tactics not defensive set plays
4) he doesn't. . .

but he does like to scope the ange ball type players like BJ. low cross, flanker..:ange-arms2:

Getting away with cheating is part of the premier league product. It's baked into the brand. Some clubs get away with things and the injustice keeps the other fans hooked and arguing amongst themselves about what is and isn't cheating.

It's really dull IMO but the masses love it.

I think it was Sarrs yellow that was really soft, then he cops a studs up to the shin without Chelsea player getting anywhere near the ball. I’m thinking the Chelsea player might get sent off here, at least a yellow for sure. But nothing. How? 🧐 The officiating today was really poor, including the Aussie in the video box.

Was always going to be like that in this fixture and it always will be.

I totally get the anger at Ange's one way set of thinking.
What I will say is that while we have lost Kane & seen Sonny's powers fade I think the Prem has got tougher.

Man U who have just appointed a new coach & Newcastle aren't doing any better than us.
Villa a little but they have had a bad spell.
Even Man City with probably the best manager in history & a great squad have struggled with injuries and been caught out this season

The smaller clubs have improved and made things harder.

I get the chaos we see now is infuriating. Angeball high risk & reward is not cutting it.

I do think a more pragmatic manager would have us less exciting but probably more solid & get us back in the top 8.
Is finishing outside top 4 (5th to 8th) with duller football seen as good enough?

Mourinho & Conte had us around there, Jose even got us to a cup final but we were not happy with the brand of football.

Postecoglou has his flaws. However, I don't think he deserves everything coming his way at the moment. It makes it hard to blame him100% when player brain-farts directly lead to goals, two penalties. And not the first time similar things have happened.

But its not working and I don't think he can succeed with this group of players, at this club. 18 months is long enough. Its best for everyone that the club and he both move in.

I find it shocking that thee are adults here, who have been football fans for years, possibly even decades, who don't understand how damaging it would be to leave a manager in the position any longer.

Do you not get it that very often it's the manager himself that wants out? They don't resign. They get themselves sacked.
Can you not see that?

At this stage, do you think Ange is waking up this morning and thinking "i could sort this out with another couple of years work"
He's probably thinking about a warm Christmas with his family in Oz.

I'm so sick of being ripped apart for fun that I'd take Potter now. I was dead against him when linked before, but at least he'd make us more structured from back to front. We'd score less and hear the old "well we had a high Xg so it's the players fault"

I really think the 2 best candidates for what we need though are Iraola or Silva. Decent football and both are elevating their teams well above the sum of their parts.
Both sufficiently young enough to learn new tricks and, if they actually do catch lighting in a bottle, young enough to hang around a few years.

Although Iraola does look like Doctor Octopus from Spider-Man 2.

somethings changed in the last few weeks. Our shape has become a mess. We’ve lost all discipline in our football. We started the season with a lot more control in games. More possession, more territory. We were lacking quality in the final third.

We look like we’re trying to play in transitions and on the break because of that, to give our limited forwards more space to work in. Players looked confused at the moment

What success did he have?
Champions league football in seasons 2, 3, 4 & 5.
2 actual title challenges.
A champions league final.
A league cup final.

He'd run his course when he left and needed to move on.
But what he did at Spurs is something Postecoglou could ever dream of. Even with Poch's squad.

Players have given up. They know it doesn't work. All the possession and control and Woolwich ans Newcastle both beat us with relative ease.

I’m also of the belief that it’s not even “dominance” from us in our style of play with the possession either. Teams are “letting” us have the ball most of the time because they know we wil give over transitions.

The most demoralizing part is I don’t have any belief things will change with him sacked. I don’t have any hope with this squad and chairman.
It’s two sides of the same coin.

But we have had *some* good moments under this ownership when it aligns once in a blue moon. It’s not all doom and gloom even though it seems it. His penny pinching and frugality severely hamstrings us. I don’t think he specifically wants us to fail, he just doesn’t want to win enough. We overspend on average players, because the elite ones are too expensive in wages but those wages and players are what sets you up to win. 🤷‍♀️ It’s unlikely to change whilst he’s here and he part owns the club. So he’s regrettably not going anywhere soon. Not sure what the answer is there.

It is however, clear that we’ve gone as far as we can with Ange.
