Match Tottenham v Manchester United - Carabao Cup - Thursday 19th at 8PM

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

In 19/20 they averaged 62% possession and conceded 33 goals across an entire season.

You don’t get 99 points without controlling matches lmao. It’s actually hilarious to me that you think you could go an entire season having ping pong matches most weeks and end up with that tally.

It’s well known Klopp adjusted gegenpressing for his best years at Liverpool. Madness you don’t even know this. They controlled most matches.

Let me cook

Those stats are slightly distorted because they scored two goals from about a yard out thanks to Forster. The xG on both of those must have been close to 1.0 each.

But for sure, the way we are playing will never lead to consistency in results. You have to be able to manage games and react to what’s happening on the pitch. Ange still refuses to accept that we need to do that. You shouldn’t need to score a 4th goal to win when you are 3-0 up.
See my signature, XG is bollox and always has been. It's so that speccy nerd with a spreadsheet can feel part of the football experience

We've drawn Liverpool? Fucking hell this cup is starting to feel like the Champions league. If, by some miracle, we do grab this trophy, it will be one hell of a win.
For all people like to talk down this trophy this would be one of the hardest runs any team has ever had if we got past Liverpool and beat the Goons in the final.

Much harder than the Europa (though if I could pick that's the one I'd have)

Almost every game lol

Constant flying full backs, wingers who's leave their full backs isolated in transition, constant pressing.

Perhaps dial the clock back a bit, Liverpool constantly played at 100 mph, the difference is that they had the players to kill matches
You clearly don't understand. How can you compared the Liverpool side with what we have now? Look at the Liverpool players that won the League. They could press the high line, but Klopp also knew how to use them to "Hang In There". Ange doesn't "Hang in There". He believes he can play 100 miles/hour for 90 minutes. It's not possible.

There's no team in this league we can't absolutely smash on our day.
We'll have our defenders back by then, richalison assuming he doesn't reinjure, bentancur, Yang min, Moore and hopefully a new signing

Ah yes the old the numbers mean a lot and all our numbers were real numbers but when we lose all the numbers don’t mean a lot and they weren’t real numbers switcheroo.

I didn’t expect this at all. No sir!

The reality is: result is king. Always has been. We won this because they’re proper mid table too and we were slightly less mid table on the night.
Eh? What are you blithering on about?

Are you saying that their Xg wasn't massively increased by Forster gifting them 2 goals?

What were the other high xG chances they had?

That's not really true though is it?

If there's one thing this season has taught us, you simply cannot predict a future result based on the performance in individual games. That has been true for virtually every team in the Prem this season.

We all want to win some Silverware, but that shouldn't prevent you from enjoying the successes along the way.
Ange, in his post match interview has pretty much made the point I'm making.

There is no logical link between enjoying the football and not being able to manage games.

Winning means making as few mistakes as possible.

Being unable to manage a game will make winning a trophy much less likely.

We've 60 years of being entertaining and winning not very much at all. But we used to have good enough players to still win some stuff. Last 30 years ... won next to fuck all. But we've "entertained". Trying to be objective, I think Liverpool and Man City, over the past 5 or more seasons have also entertained. Made relatively few mistakes. Managed games very well. And won loads.
