Manager Ange Postecoglou

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Pants by name, pants by nature.

I’m rewatching the Wire at the moment and being a teacher in a poor, drug fucked neighbourhood with violent, traumatised kids in America would have to be up there for hardest jobs. That’s not including the stress of potential school shootings at any minute. Was it silly for Ange to say what he did? Possibly. The stakes of difficult jobs are different but the levels of stress might be comparable.

I was a teacher for a few years working with (terminology used at the time) ‘students at risk’. My bit was hard enough, but others on staff had a really tough job. Everyone has stress and challenges no doubt - just the overall (subjective/objective) consequences are different. Ange (or any manager) is presiding over a lot of people’s happiness (183million if Wiki is on song). Boris, Thatcher, Starmer, they are expected to be average at best, and have/had no problem throwing ministers and secretaries under the bus

How is it shit baiting? Let’s see what he said shall we?

Said “this is the hardest job in any walk of life” without a hint of sarcasm, he is dead serious when he says that and it’s absolutely insulting to many people around the world to make such an idiotic statement.

This man gets paid in one season more than most people will ever see in their entire life and for what?

I would love to see what this man would do if he was in the forces, wouldn’t last 10 mins.

This is also the bloke who openly admitted post match that tactics and adjusting them don't come into his thinking and relys on the mistakes his players make as tactics enough going forward!!

I am at peace with our style of play and playing out from the back, inciting teams to press us leads to many of our best play and goals. It was pleasing to note that Spence and Gray both seem very adept at it too. What frustrates me about Ange is that he seems very slow to react to momentum swings. The momentum swing happened at 3-0 when Man U brought on 3 fresh players and committed more men forwards. We were already running on fumes and could not cope with the tempo that Man U set. That said, it was only 2 individual errors by Forster (who has been MotM in ~80% of the games since Vicario's injury) that let them back into the game. Also, last night was tough as we did not really have a bench for Ange to be able to change anything, and both Bergvall and Johnson struggled when they came on.

I'm liking very much the way we keep bouncing back from big setbacks. It's actually a good sign that the group is growing in mental resilience

This period under Ange is definitely a rollercoaster ride

Great win in the end last night, it’s always even better when it’s United and City too, we have City’s number and United must be hating playing us after the last few seasons. We move on in the cup and we really have to win something here, tbh I’d have us go out all out for cups this season. I genuinely don’t think we have the personnel for both, go all out for the league cup, the FA cup or the EL. Currently I’d say the EL is ‘easiest’, the FA cup is too early to see how the draw pans out further, and I actually think the league cup is really difficult from here however it pans out, though I’d actually love us to face the Geordies in the final, see someone different win something for a change either way (I also think it’s our best chance).

Performances wise last night, it’s what I’ve come to expect, we played well for twenty minute periods but the issue is the same for me, there are clear moments where there’s a decision to be made that would see us be more consistent overall and it’s left until it starts going wrong. At 3-0 up we could have seen it out, and no, Ange isn’t to blame for two goals that are clear and obvious errors from Forster, but there’s a lack of nous around seeing out games - that’s all I’ll say as it’s the pattern that I personally see and it’s, for me, why we are where we are in the league. However I’m not getting into some discussion where people call each other names because they aren’t 100% one way or the other.

Ange is correct, the games we are involved in are an entertaining watch, and yes scoring goals is fun, do o personally see it leading to success? Honestly who cares. However at least I’m not bored watching our games like I have been for a few years. I’m just here for the ride, and whilst I reckon I know where it goes, you’ll never see me be upset by us winning, advancing in cups, and wiping up salty Mancunian tears.

The very fact he quoted this last night in his Sky interview makes me very uncomfortable. Starting to believe the bollocks hype Sky cronies are heaping on him

It makes you very uncomfortable???? There are plenty more serious things in life to feel very uncomfortable about than a few quips from an Australian bloke in charge of a football team

If it's anything it's a bit of fun, he couldn't care less what Sky or anybody else thinks. Ange does and says whatever he wants, he is not here to be liked he is simply doing the job in his authentic way. He has said it and preached throughout his career, he wants his team's to play entertaining football, he literally would rather win 4-3 rather than 1-0, and at his age he is not going to change his beliefs and principles

No, that's not what he said.

On numerous occasions he had referred to sticking to a game plan, and players learning through the process. Understanding that players will make mistakes, as they all do in ANY system, but not deviating from the team system.

People need to move on from the prime minister thing, I’m not the blokes biggest fan as a manager but he wasn’t making some grand societal commentary like some seem to be suggesting. He made a joke and kept a straight face. He doesn’t need comparing to Starmer et al 🙈
