All that we, as fans, can ask is that when a “frozen out” type of player is given a chance, the player grabs it.
We are only speculating what the behind the scenes problem is/may have been. But he’s certainly not been fancied since he joined - club signing and all that stuff.
I suspect there’s been a lack of maturity on his part because he’s got the tools needed to make it with physicality, football intelligence and skill.
He’s certainly looked very mature and composed in the games he’s played.
He looks to be a real asset and like some others, I genuinely believe he should be a nailed on starter.
Whether it’s Udogie or Porro that makes way, I’m not fussed.
He’s grabbed his chance and deserves all the praise going his way.
His performance last night should really make anyone in football question Conte and his assessment of spence as a Club signing (identified by a professional Director of Football and expert in scouting/transfers) not worthy of even giving the players any playing time before discarding him.
Its really all about Conte's lack of player management skills if there were issues with lack of maturity, time keeping etc - there will be players out there with far worse issues to manage.
Really pleased to see Spence showing precisely what he can offer the team as LB or RB
