Maresca has taken them up a level though and it was still a billion pound squad of talent.Pochettino was literally the one who put Maresca on this path. Their form before he was sacked was as good as anything they've been this season - the pathway was set. He guided them through a very difficult period with 500 players, finally got some cohesion together and Caicedo, Palmer etc performing and then he got sacked, probably for political reasons as much as anything else.
Poch isn’t a bad coach, that’s not what I’m saying. What I’m mainly saying is the quality of talent was the biggest factor in that team we had reaching the levels it did.
How likely are we to turn a 5m Championship kid into another Dele? Or another Kane to come through our academy? Or even another Walker from a Sheffield UTD?
