"Crew of manager sackers" lol.

I wanted Jose sacked and this guy sacked. Jose because he was and is past it as a top level coach and things were never going to improve. I never wanted him hired in the first place. And this guy because he just isn't up to this level and nothing has changed my mind on him .. again, never wanted him hired in the first place. Other coaches I was more or less behind, that title makes it sound like wanting to sack coaches is some kind of addiction.

Difficult one. We hit point of no return ages ago imo, we're sticking by him out of necessity due to nobody being available. I think he's a dead man walking regardless unless we get some kind of european football, Levy will just wait till the summer to pull the trigger.
It’s more than that for Levy really because he’s tried the Jose, Conte style, he’s tried the ruthless sacking of managers and now he’s gone this route and proclaimed “we’ve got our Tottenham back”.

All feeling aside for Ange the man and coach, this might be the first coach that Levy actually NEEDS to work out.

He's fucked then because with this run of fixtures (we are losing or drawing 100% to everton, brentford and Woolwich away, this squad doesn't have the tenacity to go to these places and win) we could legitimately end up being sucked in to a relegation battle if a couple of the "easier" home games don't go our way.

Levy will pull the trigger at the first sign of that even being a remote possibility imo.

to be fair, this is none. hes not anywhere near a level where he needs a specialised coaching setup. its what an 8 year old would come up with on a football manager game.

I wonder what we do in training, because for sure the details aren't there on game day and we def don't train for in game management and reacting to situations. Again it's the arrogance of the man, he probably thinks his coaching team can coach to the level we need, clearly that isn't the case. It's arrogance or just incompetence.

We look appallingly coached, as bad as I have ever seen.

I saw a quote that Levy will wait until the CC Semi-Final. Usually these things read as BS but I can believe that one.

Saying that, football is never simple. We might beat Wolves and if we do, we have a decent record against Newcastle at home as well. Follow that up with another draw at the Emirates which is really just a case of defending set pieces… things could take a pretty surprising turn of events quite easily really

luckily the end is near. i think a loss tomorrow could be the final straw.

Liverpool are dumping our ass out of that cup so so easily.

That would be disastrous. Just guaranteed a shit season mired in mid table but waiting for it to get bad enough for him to be gone. I guess it would just mean ignoring the rest of this season until the summer where a manager is appointed, as no way Levy keeps on a coach after no European football and no cup win.

You can see in Europe when he comes up against proper teams, he gets tonked. His system plainly doesn't work at the top level and fuck the club for even thinking it was possible.
The thing is that it might work, if it were combined with a little pragmatism and just some basic fucking common sense. But it's barely organized chaos loosely tied together with philosophical threads of "always play out from the back, even with a backup keeper not comfortable with the ball at his feet" and "always play a high line, even with backup/out of position defenders not used to playing with each other" and "always attack, even when you're 2 or 3 goals up".

Spent all last year without a set piece coach, refusing to admit he'd been caught with his pants down.

Too stubborn for his own good. And after being badgered about it by the press he's just even more insistent on "proving his point".

Let him go moan at it down at the pub.

I understand the feeling that Levy might see this as the one that needs to work out.

But don't a lot of them feel like that in the moment?

No manager had the fans on their side like Pochettino. So Levy couldn't be seen to let him down.

There was no way Levy could survive being the only chairman that couldn't win a trophy with Jose.

When Conte was hired, I think it was said by all, that there was no hiding place for Levy if this one didn't work.

But after time passes we realise that he knows that he doesn't really need anything to work out. What are we gonna do? Vote him out in the next election? Any bad press he gets from failure with another manager is something that he knows will be ridden out after a month or so.

Getting rid of Ange is the wrong thing to do.

Playing defensive, pragmatic football is for teams that just want to 'survive' in the league. If you want to win, you have to be attacking. City and Liverpool have dominated for that reason. However, this system only works with a world class keeper and centre backs. We won't progress with centre backs who are always injuries and a keeper who cannot defend set pieces.

CULTURE
Ange is changing the culture of the club. He's spoken many times that mental weakness and a loser attitude dogs the players. We signed a lot of our players from relegation battlers - they do not know how to be successful, only to survive. There is no confidence, no swagger, no arrogance.

If the club wants to be successful, they can only do that by getting the right players. Another change of coach just starts the merry go round of mediocrity again.

so you wanna change not playing out from the back and the high line? so basically you wanna change enough to make it a completely different system then.

there is no tweeks to this system to make it successful at top level football. its brain dead stuff.

oh and you want the manager to adapt in game to the circumstances loool.
I'm not sure if you're being sarcastic?

I like playing out from the back, but we take it to suicidal extremes.

I like playing a high line, but it's an unnecessary risk when you're up multiple goals, or when you're playing a back line of substitutes and out of position players uncomfortable playing together.

Completely agree, and until the the people upstairs are willing to take a big financial risk, and up the ante when it comes to transfer time, we can "want" until the cows come home unfortunately, no matter who the manager is.

His irritation at questions in the press conference becomes more and more baffling the more you think about it. Because the truth is, he's been treated by the press, the fans and the club pretty delicately. In fact I can't think of another premier league manager, who only has to do the bare minimum or below to get their belly tickled like he does.

Whenever we get in any way embarrassed by a performance, the club are quick to put out that he is under "no pressure". Which is absurd that any manager can be under "no pressure" let alone after our form for the last 10 months.

We pull it back to 5-2 on Sunday and he gets his name sung.

Compare that to Lopetegui. Who only arrived in the summer at West Ham and had to try and put a new team together on the fly. He's been getting dogs abuse from the fans and the press and always feel like he's one loss away from the sack.... That'd be the Lopetegui who's team is now level on points with us.
He’s also having to change style of play from Moyesball!
