That can’t be real!
Speaking in his press conference after the game, Postecoglou said: “Yeah I could have [made subs]. But… all these things… are totally irrelevant to me. Substitutions and all those kind of things. If you’re not competitive, it doesn’t matter what you do, you’re not going to get rewards, you don’t deserve to win.

“We didn’t deserve on our second-half performance, irrespective of subs or anything else, to get something out of the game. But I think if you do get something out of the game, you’re falsely rewarded and I don’t want to get falsely rewarded.”

Whoa.

Ange is a nice man but this is his first job at the top level and he’s 60 years old. He has a team of novice, mediocre coaches around him who also have no meaningful experience at this level.

It’s one thing to be patient with a young manager with no elite experience but a 60 year old? When results are this bad for this long what is there to justify giving him more time? Anyone with eyes can see that Ange and his coaching staff are not meeting the required standard. Our attack is easily nullified, we are easily bullied and we can’t keep clean sheets. We struggle to score more than once unless the opponent bends over for us. That has been the case for the entire year even when we haven’t had injuries. Despite this Ange has literally said he will not change anything significant.

Leaving aside Levy’s neglect of the playing squad, what reason is there to keep believing in Ange if we keep losing games? Keeping a bad manager because it’s a hassle finding a new one is not a good enough reason. 18 months is enough time to judge a manager’s impact and his impact has been negative. The team is much worse than when Conte left.
Agree, although not so sure he's a nice guy: now we're losing he often comes over as passive-aggressive, sullen, and short-tempered when faced with fairly reasonable and easy questions.

In his defence the pressure on him now is huge and it is probably getting to him, not a good job for the old ticker, methinks!

I think I understand what hes trying to say ("if you arent committed / competitive you dont win stuff") but it reads really badly. It reads more like "if we arent committed / competitive I am going to do nothing to change it" which is desperately bad stuff indeed, and infers its the ONLY thing that matters. Yeah for sure you need to be competitive, you need the desire, the fitness, mental strength etc but you also need WITH that : tactics that work, training, planning, set piece coaching - I could go on. Not defending him here at all but I think he definitely could have worded that response a lot better, because he DOES make subs (albeit usually late) - the issue for me is the "all these things" ie. changing tactics. It seems to suggest that he believes his Plan A should be enough all the time, and if it isnt, thats the players not being competitive, which is bollocks. If I set my team up in a 0-0-10 formation then my team will lose and lose A LOT, regardless of competitive edge or fitness.

Mason hasn’t over seen a team that has conceded almost 100 premier league goals in 18 months. Ange has. He’s not a premier league manager. Get him out of this club today. I don’t care if we beat wolves 9-0 I want him gone.

Mason hasn't been given a chance to be in charge of that many PL matches because he's not fucking good enough to be a manager, you've just contradicted your own point, well done lol

I haven’t you fucking whopper. You prance about this place saying this that and the other, talking about guarantees and then you contradict yourself. Just keep quiet and stop making a fool of yourself in regards to Ange. No one wants to hear it.

I don't want to be rude or anything but it's clear your lack some reading comprehension skills and some basic knowledge.

If you're trying to champion Ryan Mason you can't use an argument that Ange has conceded more goals than Mason, the reason is simply because Ange has more experience than, Mason has about 10 Prem matches under his belt FFS...so tell me why you can guarantee then Mason would be doing better than him? What is is actually based on?

Cut the emotional bullshit and back your argument for once.

Gosh, this is a depressing thread; mind you most of the Spurs ones are, at the moment.
I don't know if getting rid of Ange will make it better or not, but the odd goal fest or scoring 3 if we let in 4 or 6 is just not good enough.

It's by far the single dumbest thing I've ever heard from an elite coach. It's the kind of empty headed reactionary thing an unintelligent person says when they have exhausted every last rational instinct they have. I loath Levy but I have to belive he is smarter than the handful of folk on here still making excuses. I think he's been making plans to replace him for a while. You cant have any pretence at being a serious pro team and have Postecoglou, Yedinak Wells Mason, its bonkers. Ange is not waving he is drowning it's actually cruel to leave him in post the hostility in the press conferences may as well be tears.

Our current form isn't sustainable with our players being out, it just isn't.

Mason ball isn't a guarantee of anything other than an early admittance of yet another failed project, Ange has been appalling and will most likely be gone at the end of the season should this form carry on but let's see where we are after the up and coming window, we need to give him a chance to turn things around and prolong his tenure until the Summer for our sake.
You are willing to "lets see", I'm not. I'd prefer if Terzic or Potter replaced Ange this week. But if the club decide to wait until summer, I believe we will be better off with mason as manager than if we keep Postecoglu. Mason, if he's not totally daft, should at least have picked up some notion of how to defend under Mourinho, Nuno and Conte. And should probably know a bit about how to play attacking football after working with Pochettino, Ange, and to a small part (transition) Mourinho and (patterns, counterattacks) Conte.

Terzic and Potter are mid choices, rather than rushing an appointment now we are far better off waiting until the Summer for the likes of Silva, Iarola, Frank or whoever may be more available, what scenario would you prefer?

You're not even getting new manager bounce because the players haven't even stopped playing for Ange, by all accounts their behind him so again that's another case of keeping this manager for the time being.

This Mason talk is absolute crazy and just tells you how broken this fanbase is, if you think the season is done now then hiring Mason just puts the final nail in the coffin, yeah I'm sure his 10 or so games of PL management he's gonna be able to turn our season around, laughable.

The last time the club felt this much of a mess was in the 90s. It’s insufferable at the minute.

And you’re right, irrespective of what people say, it isn’t good enough.
