Manager Ange Postecoglou

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I'm not sure pretending to still think Ange is good to try and wind people up is fun mate.

Have you considered vodka red bulls?

Ange is fine, this fanbase just doesn't have any patience to see a rebuild through, I get it but it's kinda boring reading the same comments over time and time again.

I'm genuinely intrigued to see how the rest of the season plays out under him, hopefully I get my wish.

When there’s no semblance of hope remaining for any sort of regime in sports, then what are you doing? Why keep what’s not working?

Even the Ange In brigade can only say that if the team were healthier, we wouldn’t be having the problems we’re having. But we did when we were healthier play exactly the same way, and you can’t blame Levy and say to keep Ange because Levy’s not going anywhere.

Our only hope is either Levy out, or Levy stumbles upon a miracle worker. Ange obviously is not one.

We're on pace for 48 points for the season. That is terrible.

Really shouldn't need saying. Absolutely fucking abysmal.

Hopefully Newcastle & Woolwich do us favours, otherwise we will drop down to 13th. 1 point ahead of West Ham, 4 ahead of Crystal Palace, a low level side who even by their standards are considered to be having an iffy season.

I'm not sure why people are bothering to still defend this. We are quite literally in the cluster of extremely not good sides who are just about better than relegation. We have some injuries but ultimately only Vicario and VDV are starters. Missing them and some squad players should not ever lead to where we are.

We're behind Nottingham Forest, Bournemouth, Newcastle, Fulham, Villa, and Brighton, and have a clearly better squad than all of them except maybe Newcastle, maybe Villa. Based on that If we just had a coach at least as good as any of theirs, we should be at least top 6.

We're on pace for 48 points for the season. That is terrible.

Yeah its an absolute clusterfuck.

But the only comparable injury crisis in recent memory that I can remember was Newcastle for a couple of months last year I think? And they, like us, were fucked. Got their players back and came home strong.

I'm not suggesting you or anyone should think this gives Postecoglou a pass mind you - just pointing out that massive injuries particularly in one area (defence) will ruin any team's season.

We all approach our dark fate as Spurs fans in different ways, I guess.

But still - getting angry at a manager for wearing a big coat in winter is... unusual to say the least :D

The best one was the complaints about him going for a hug with Arne Slot, nearly wet myself reading that one.

This thread legit reminds me of the Mourinho thread on SC back in 2021, the amount of rent free-ness that man was living in people's heads at the time was hilarious, literally every comment questions his press conferences, tactics, comments, manarisms etc...ah that was a funny time, this these is actually uncanny

Of course you backed Jose to the hilt as well.

Romero is not a starter?

I don't hate Ange for being fat or for wearing overly large coats- I hate his tactics, poor man management, bad game management, lack of preparation at set pieces, porous defense, poor management of squad health, lack of sane squad rotation, apparent difficulties at evaluating players, hostile and foolish press conferences, and pompous prognostications.

Today I learned that key CM Phillip Billing hasn't been available for Bournemouth all season until today. And Iraola STILL has them overperforming in 6th.

A lot of other managers are doing much better than Ange at managing the health, rotation and tactics of their squads. It's not a credible excuse to simply excuse the poor points haul as down to bad luck with injuries.

Yea I think Solanke was a great purchase for us.
Many other successful prem players moved within the Premier league.
Bizarre you seem to think decent players or coaches can only come from outside the league.

I don’t think it matters where they come from. Only matters if they are going to help us be a top side. You’re the one in a puff about PL proven only.

Fair enough.

I don't think a) Billing has only been available today (he's been in and around the squad for a while now not even sure he's in Iraloa's 1st 11) but more importantly b) when will people under stand that losing your keeper and first choice CB's is unlike anything anyone else has had to do deal with? Like I said the only comparable injury crisis was Newcastle and they were fucked just like we are.

None of which means we shouldn't have picked up more points when we had a full squad which is why the manager is almost certainly going to be sacked and deservedly so.

We were no worse under Mason than we were under Jose, and at least we didn’t have to deal with his bullshit.

He should’ve gone after the Zagreb bullshit.

Should have gone way before that, he lost me after the NLD

Quite funny watching people calling him a hero because they thought he got sacked for trying to scupper Levy's ESL plan

Romero is not a starter?

Forgot to put him in. Although he was hideously out of form for the start of the season anyway and people wanted Dragusin in!

We're missing a CB partnership and a goalkeeper. That will obviously hurt you. But ultimately Vicario, whilst good, is not world class. He's not even close to it. He was having an iffy season along with Romero. Only VDV out of those 3 was putting in performances that you'd expect to be transformative.

Those 3 injuries + the other players out you'd expect to cause a drop off. I wouldn't expect to draw at home to Wolves or to concede 6 at home or some of the other shite we've experienced. And regardless, our most embarrassingly crap results occurred prior to all these injuries! Palace and Ipswich were utterly dreadful outings.

Maybe- I concede I could be overly focused on Prem experience right now. I just don't think we can afford to make a mistake on this next appointment- I think we're at a critical juncture right now and risk slipping into genuine midtable. I'd hope Levy and co at least look at Prem managers who have been able to significantly improve the points output of their clubs as a template, and use it to inform their decision making.

I did not watch Dortmund under Terzic too much, but my understanding was that their squad had a lot of longtime veterans like Fulkrug, Brandt, and Hummels, and can't miss young talent like Adeyemi, that may have made him look a little better than he really was/is. I just see less of a floor with an appointment from within the Prem than with Terzic. I hope you can understand my reasoning.

I'll stipulate to the Palace and Ipswich games etc...

However I can't agree with you on Vic. Or even Romero even though he's been poor at times.

When VDV went down (the first time) I was worried for the league season. When Vic went down I knew what has happened would happen. Forster and Drag have done fine in their limited way but they can't possibly replace the dynamism and ball ability of those they replaced. It s fucked us going both ways.

Only Gray is anywhere near calm and good enough on the ball but he doesn't have VDV's recover pace so... fucked again.

None of which gainsays any of your points about other losses but let's be serious - our squad is threadbare and we lost 3 of the most important cogs in it. We won't get anywhere until they come back (we certainly won't find the requisite quality in January)
