McKenna has Spurs connections as well.

Another one who has no experience playing twice a week and maintaining the intensity but the Championship is probably better prep for that than most leagues.

I'll be honest, of all the names mentioned so far, Silva, Iraola, Potter, Frank, Terzic... McKenna would be above all of them IMO. There is something about him that just makes me think he's going to be one of the really elite coaches.
If the thread starter just added his name in the poll he'd get my vote.

Can't help but think Ponchettino was the right answer at the time. The early run of success may have just been a false spring. Ironically, that was done with holdover players from the prior managers. Once Postecoglou started getting players he wanted and more fully implemented his system the results have been pretty bad. But until people see the system fail with healthy players and more transfers in, they won't believe it won't work.

I think McKenna is an interesting shout.

Tottenham history and pretty successfull as U18 coach, League One and Championship winner.

Migh be possible to convince to come here mid season looking at Ipswich position in the league.

He won’t leave them mid season. He had the chance to go to Chelsea and Man U in the summer according to their chairman on the radio the other month. Instead he decided to stay loyal to them. Doesn’t sound like a person who would jump ship there. If he keeps them up he will be in even more demand then/be able to ask for a longer more expensive contract at another club. I’d go for him then. Tee him up now on the quiet.

Sounds like a good plan. So its Mason until summer then.

For my 2 cents, this is some of the strongest evidence supporting hiring Iraola. Formationally and defensively they do many of the same things we do, but they do them better and more structured. He also knows how to get the best out of Solanke.

No point in hiring anyone serious. It’s the same shit show whoever we get. Why don’t we make it fun and choose random interesting celebrities or public figures? They could be Spurs fans or just anyone that would make the press conferences more interesting. Adele? Micky Flanagan? Former President of Syria Assad? Liz Truss and the cabbage?

Michael McIntyre?

Who knows but if we get someone new we still have the below issues that is going to make life hard for any new manager.

1 our front line is total wank. Son is done, Johnson if he doesn’t score doesn’t do anything, Werner is shit, Richy is always injured and Odoburt/Moore/Min-Heoyk/Lankshear are kids, our only top draw attacker is now Solanke. We need minimum one new top draw winger this window and another striker to replace Richy.

2 left side of our defence has less depth than a paddling pool. Need a new left back and new LCB. At least one this window

3 The whole Bentancur/Bissouma 6 situation will need to be resolved in the summer. Both players are way to inconsistent at present.

Your assessment is spot thus a seasoned experienced manager isn’t going to work the squad though young with a mixture of experience Maddison, Van de Ven & Romero needs a younger guy with new ideas where we can build the team up no fast track them just let them develop for me McKenna he’s been with us, there’s glimpses of promise at Ipswich and with the backing of Levy with us he could a smart move

Romero and VDV are another issue as well. Romero has always been injury prone even before Ange and VDV had a big hamstring injury before he joined us. Made of glass players.

Romero is probably off in the summer with Vuskovic taking over, then we still need a LCB this window. A lot to do which should have been done in the summer.

Contract is done in 2027, rumours are that Madrid are looking at him and Saliba right now, they'll probably go for Romero as he's currently the cheapest - not sure Levy will see it that way though.

Regarding Assad, his defense tactics were found out and is worse than Angelos' -s so it's a no from me there
