Transfers January Transfer Thread 24/25

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Don’t watch much Italian football, but saw recently that Ademola Lookman got African Player of the Year and seems to be doing well with Atalanta. Anyone with more knowledge think he’s worth pursuing? Realistic option for us?
I love Atalanta, what a great side, I watch them on the telly as much as poss. Also went to a couple games last season. Big fan of the area and got a few clients nearby. Also a big admirer of Gasperini...he's mustard.

Lookman has improved so much since his Everton & Fulham days. Highly rated in Italy, definitely a popular player for his skills and unless I'm mistaken he's always shown a positive attitude on & off the pitch.

I'd take him in a heartbeat...he & Mbeumo would transform our attack. Solanke would love playing next to them. But I really don't see the kid swapping Atalanta for Spurs...though he's a London boy.

fogueres fogueres Happy New Year to you, fratello mio. What you saying re Lookman?

I thought the deal was too good to be true, but did THFC completely overlook the possibility of a January sale?
I heard somewhere there is even a January price option baked in. We would pay much less in the summer but not a crazy price in January.

Thing is, we all know how this club works and if there is the remotest possibility of paying €5-10m less in the summer we will try our very hardest to wait that out.

What happens if an actual bid comes in for him is very different.

Definitely RKM > David from what I’ve seen.

Granted only seen David for Canada but he looked bang average.
Jonathan David has 112 league goals in 222 games...82 goals in Ligue 1, which is known as a defense-first league.

Kolo Muani (two years older and much, much more expensive) has 65 in 225. And that's counting those he scored in the lower leagues in France.

No contest.

But yeah one is French so obviously it's sexier and gotta mean he's the better player.

Cutting edge analysis this. Really sharp stuff.

RKM scored goals in Germany, a much better league.

Not scoring at PSG is not the same as scoring in France. Are we really saying that RKM as the guaranteed starter up front for Lille wouldn’t score as many as David, or even more?

Look, David might be good I’ve just seen him a few times and he was bang average at best. I’d be happy to be proven wrong.

RKM I’ve seen play really really impressive games and he’s got the pace that you need to make a difference in the Prem. Is David really quick? Didn’t look it to me

He bagged 15 goals in the Bundesliga, a league known for being goals goals goals. And he had incredible passers next to him. But yeah, still gotta finish them.

When RKM was the leading man at Nantes, he was average. Never got close to David's level, though yeah admittedly Lille are a much stronger side. I honestly reckon RKM wouldn't score as many if he swapped places with JD, it's just not his game. But JD would bag 20+ year in year out in Germany.

You don't score 80+ goals in France if you're bang average.

RKM's top speed is 35.2 km/h...David got clocked at nearly 33. Hardly a massive difference. And JD has a better technique when running at speed.

I wouldn't sign JD, just so we're clear...well, as a backup yeah, but not as a starter. Kolo Muani? I don't even want him on our bench when you consider his pedigree, form for the past 2 years, lack of finishing and crazy money he'd cost in fee + wages.

I’ve only really seen him that game and he got to everything before Gallagher. Positioning and running power to be there was all on display. Tbh he dominated that Atleti MF which is probably the hardest working in La Liga.

Thing is, I don’t think he’s done it again since. Do you watch more La Liga or Betis and have a decent take on why? Like I said that’s literally the only game I watched so have no idea.
Ive only watched them twice so no expert either. Seemed more ball playing tjan all action but could be wrong

35 km/h is VDV quick and he’s also explosive to get up to full speed. That’s a game changer for a PL forward.

33 km/h and not especially quick off the mark is run of the mill in the PL and every team has a CB who can live with that.

RKM had 26 goals and 17 assists in 50 games for Frankfurt. Those are elite numbers in a top 3 league.

David is technically better and is more of an inside forward either side or play as a striker. He’s not a runner in behind but can hold the ball up and link. RKM is more mobile but not as technically good. Both are upgrades on Johnson,Werner and Sonny at the moment to be honest. That might not translate to the premier league though.

Interesting.

Who are you hearing that from?
There's a bloke bloggs in Italy that my in.laws follow. They are Inter nuts, they see him as a long term get. So if they waved say 25-30 million at Levy on a player Paratici picked up for 12. Would he be tempted. Bare in mind there's some think this CR goalkeeper has Nuer television ceilings and oddly Austin looks better than FF.
